| A reality show for bikers on a road trip turned out to be more than just that. In its fourth season, the popular MTV Roadies 4 threw up many surprise contenders.
In what was a battle of wits and endurance, three finalists emerged — Anthony Yeh and Raj Roy from Calcutta and Gurbani Judge from Chandigarh.
A topic of hot discussion was the soft-spoken Anthony's fondness for Bani. Also, in a game where you were supposed to outlast your rivals or your friends, the third finalist, his 'buddy' Raj Roy's betrayal came a shock.
Winning tasks for immunity from vote-outs when it mattered, Anthony paid a conniving Raj his due. The final verdict came as a judgment from their peers – the remaining Roadies.
The result was almost unanimous. The 20-year-old, second-year Commerce student from St Xavier's Calcutta, Anthony Yeh, was declared the winner, garnering over three and a half lakh rupees as prize money. A chat with Anthony: So what is the real Anthony like?
The real Anthony loves football and is shy but when I'm with friends, I can be a real prankster. What was the toughest task you faced?
I'd say the money task in Pushkar was the toughest. I had to convince a 62-year-old to board by handcart.
Everyone around there spoke Hindi. My Hindi isn't that great and I had some trouble with saying the number 62 in Hindi. That's the time I felt totally helpless. Who was your toughest competitor on Roadies 4?
None of them. Do we see Bani still being a part of your life?
We're just very good friends, nothing more. Will you split the prize money with Bani?
No. Besides, she doesn't need the money. What do you plan to plan to do with the prize money?
I want to send my parents on a holiday to China. What's the one lasting memory you're going to carry home after Roadies 4?
There's no one specific memory. I'm going to remember the whole thing — the Roadies I met, the friends I lost… Like who…?
You know… like Raj. So will you still keep in touch with Raj?
I am still in touch with Raj. Just hi-bye, you know… Things we don't know about Anthony?
There are some things I don't know about myself. What do I tell you? What did the Bad Man have to say?
You know we didn't get to meet the Bad Man at all. What's next?
I plan to continue and complete my studies. I don't have any offers as of now. If I do and it's hampering my studies, I'd rather not do it. https://www.mid-day.com/hitlist/2007/january/150928.htm
