Hi all 😊 Ever wondered, there are some songs from our Hindi movies that weave a story along.... Lets try to recollect some of those songs that have been our favorites... 😳

It will also be great, if we talk what we like about the story as well... 😊

I will start off with one of my favorite songs.... 'Ek hi khwab kai baar dekha hai maine' from Kinara.... Beautifully composed by Pancham and some great poetry by Gulzar... Bhupinder Singh weaves a dream in the song. It just takes you somewhere else 😳, and every listener starts dreaming along with... Check this out 😛

Great topic Jaya!
My favourite is "Suno Choti si gudiya ki lambi kahani" from the film Seema.

The story narrated in the song has so much pathos that it can move a person to tears. When I was going through a lot of problems in my teenage years, this song seemed like it was written for me! I could not hear this song in front of others and would rush out if this song was playing anywhere.

I am reminded of this song from 'Toofan aur Diya' sung by Manna Dey, Lyrics by Bharat Vyas. It's not a story about a person, a beautiful poem nevertheless.. and a long one 😊 .

Nirbal se ladaai balwaan ki
Ye kahaani hai diye ki aur toofan ki

Thanks Sahana... Yes, the song from Seema you mentioned is a great one..... Do you have it with you? I have been looking for the song for sometime now 😊

Another song that I like in this genre is 'Chhoti si ek kali khili thi..' from Jurmana... I think it depicts the beautiful father-daughter relationship in a very simple but touching manner... every girl should be able to relate to it... Me and my father used to listen to this song together lot many times... Also loved the situation of the song in the movie...

Yes Jaya this is a very touchy song. that actually reminded me of a Bengali song by Hemant Kumar. "Katey na samay jakhun aar kichhu tey... Aaye Khuku Aaye"

another one i really like is Guzra Zamana Bachpan ka in the film devar. the song is lamanting the loss of childhood and innocence and also brings back all those countless childhoos memories flooding back.

Reminds me of the Kishore-Lata song from Prem Kahani --

ek kahani
jab ati hai rut pe javani
tab banati hai prem kahani...

prem kahani mein
ek ladaka hota hai
ek ladakI hoti hai
kabhi dono hasate hain, kabhi dono rote hain

And song from recent Krrish----

aao sunao pyar ki ek kahani,
ek tha ladka ek thi ladki deewani,
woh bhi hasne lagi thi, yeh bhi hasne laga tha,
dono samjhe nahi the woh joh hone laga tha,
aao sunao pyar ki ek kahani,
ek tha ladka ek thi ladki deewani,

I don't have the MP3 but had it on my cassette. Here are the lyrics:
suno chhoti si gudiyaa ki lambi kahaani
jaise taaron ki baat sune raat suhaani
suno chhoti si gudiya ki kahaani

jisaki qismat men gham ke bichhaune the
aansoo hi khilaune the
dard ki khushiyaan thi, dukh bhari ankhiyaan thi
ghar bhi na tha koi,aur dar bhi na thaa koi
bhare aanchal men gham chhupaae aankhon men paani
suno chhoti si gudiyaa ki lambi kahaani
jaise taaron se baat kare raat suhaani
suno chhoti si gudiya ki kahaani

dil men ye aramaan tha, ik chhotaa saa bangalaa ho
chaandi ki dharti par , sone kaa jangalaa ho
(khel ho jeevan ke yahaan, mel ho jeevan ke )-2 ho..o...o...mel ho jeevan ke
gayaa bachapan to aansoo bhari aai jawaani
suno chhoti si gudiyaa ki lambi kahaani
jaise taaron se baat kare raat suhaani
suno chhoti si gudiya ki kahaani

chaand kaa dolaa ho,aur bijali kaa baajaa ho
dole men raani ho,aur ghode pe raajaa ho
pyaar ke raste ho, aur phool barasate ho-2
ho...o...o...o.. aur phool baraste ho
bananaa chaahati thi ik din, woh taaron ki raani
suno chhoti si gudiyaa ki lambi kahaani
jaise taaron se baat kare raat suhaani
suno chhoti si gudiya ki kahaani

toote pal bhar men, sapanon ke moti bhi
lut gai jyoti bhi
rah gae andhere, ujade hue sawere
baat yah poori thi, phir bhi adhoori thi -2
ho..o...o....o phir bhi adhoori thi
hogaa anjaam kyaa, yeh khabar kuchh bhi na jaani
suno chhoti si gudiyaa ki lambi kahaani
jaise taaron se baat kare raat suhaani
suno chhoti si gudiya ki kahaani

Reminds me of another heart-touching, soul-stirring song --- excellent lyric by Gulzar and fabulous composition by Vasant Desai --- from Aashirvaad ---

Ek tha bachapan ek tha bachpan
chhotasa nanhasa bachpan... ek tha bachpan
bachapan ke ek babuji the
achhe sacche babuji the
donon ka sundar tha bandhan ... ek tha bachpan

Can anyone post the full lyric of this song? I searched but could not find.

Most songs with good lyrics weave an illusion around you, sometimes its dreamable sometimes the harsh realities of life and sometimes a wait for the unknown.

There is a bengali song by Kishorda "ki ashaa ye baandhi khela ghor , bedonar baluchore"... it tells it all.

"Kuch na kaho kuch bhi na kaho" - does this not make you feel the dream?
