Hello everyone, I know I took a while to update. Sorry about that . . . This update is rather lame but do share your opinions of it if you can. It helps me know where to take the story next. It takes me a while to write this stuff so you sharing your thoughts mean a lot. Since I took so long to update this chapter, the next one will follow soon after. 😉

Zoya
What the! Zoya couldn't believe the audacity of him. "You weigh a ton. Get off me before I sink into this sand and never resurface." He said into her ear. The absolute gall of this man. He had no manners. She wondered if this was the way he spoke to all the women he came across or just her. If this was his usual disposition, she doubted women lingered long enough to start a real conversation. She stood up awkwardly dusting sand off her hands.
As Asad got to his feet and dusted off his trousers, she asked, "What are we going to do? No one will realize we're missing and even if they do, how will they find us?" She didn't even wait for him to answer, she put her hands on her head and groaned, "Allah Miya, we're going to die here aren't we? We're either going to die of starvation or a heat-stroke." She paced in the sand, leaving little foot tracks back and forth.
She felt an arm circulate her upper arm. Asad had her in his grip, his eyes boring into hers, "We're not going to die. How about you give the drama a rest and help me find something we can eat?" He said through gritted teeth. She yanked herself from his grip and pointed a finger at his face, "Listen here, don't you dare put your hands on me again. What the heck is wrong with you? Have you no idea how to treat a woman?" She puffed out a breath frustrated at being trapped on a deserted island with this man. Anyone else but him. Anyone!
"I'm sorry." He said and Zoya stared at him eyes wide and mouth agape. "If you want to catch flies for lunch you go right ahead and keep gaping like a fish." Zoya shut her mouth immediately and followed Asad as he disappeared through the trees.
"Where are we going?" She asked trying not to trip up as she followed after him. He didn't miss a beat and stopped abruptly making Zoya crash into his back. He turned leveling her with a hard glare. "Sorry." She mumbled. "I'm going to get us some of that fruit up there." "Is it edible?" She asked skeptically. "We'll know when I get it." he shrugged unperturbed.
The fruit turned out to be edible. Zoya didn't know what it was but she ate it hoping she didn't die. Her only comfort was that the grumpy man next to her would kick the bucket too if the fruit turned out to be poisonous. Such a sadistic thought and totally unlike her. Zoya giggled as she thought about that and drew his unwanted attention. "What's funny?" He asked. His face was impassive and Zoya stopped laughing immediately. "Nothing." She mumbled and stared away from him.
Asad
Asad stared at the girl wondering what was wrong. Of course he'd be dense not to think that their present situation wasn't at fault for her mood. They were trapped and he had no clue if they'd be found. There was nothing he could say to lighten her mood so he would say nothing. She seemed to prefer it that way too. Him staying away. It was obvious she didn't like him at all and of course who could blame her. He'd given her no reason to anyway. He could even say he liked her in any way either.
Liar, His inner voice accused. Okay well . . . maybe he didn't dislike her as much as he was trying to convince himself and make her think. She was beautiful. He would be a fool not to see that. He could admit that to himself. There was something about her . . . under the feisty demeanor. There was something that drew him in. Some kind of electric pull that made him want to start a verbal sparring with her and grab her into his arms all at the same time.
Asad's gaze drifted off to the view before him. The sea was calm; the skies clear but that could all change at a moment's notice as it had proven earlier. He pinched his forehead between two fingers, how were they going to get out of this? They couldn't survive on the fruit from that tree for long and he couldn't be 100% sure that there weren't any wild animals lurking in the vast sea of green that dominated the island.
Just then the sky clouded over and Asad smiled. Rain was coming and in a blink of an eye, it was pouring. Yet another thing to worry about – dying from pneumonia. This was just getting better and better, he shook his head and stood up to find shelter. He turned towards Zoya and saw her sitting in the same spot, her eyes cast downwards and arms wrapped around her knees. What is she thinking? He wondered idly as he stalked forward.
"Hey, c'mon. We need to get some shelter till the rain subsides." He spoke loudly as the wind had picked up and it felt more like a storm than just a passing rain cloud. She still sat unmoving. He rolled his eyes heavenward and grabbed her hands and lifted her unresponsive body into his arms and briskly walked into the shelter of the huge trees.
He sat them under a large coconut tree, its leaves providing shelter from the pelting rain. He cradled the girl in his arms as her body shook with cold. She rose one arm to twine around his neck as she snuggled closer in his embrace. "Are you okay?" He asked softly. "C-Cold." She blubbered out. "I-I'm f-freezing," she stammered. Asad was at a loss as to what he could do. This was the only shelter he could find for now. He could hardly search in the dark with the rain falling so heavily. So he did the only thing he could and held her close hoping that theory about body heat being right.
He pulled her in even closer and hugged her tightly making sure all and every heat from his body could reach hers so she wouldn't freeze to death in his arms. He knew that the wet clothes didn't help. The rain was definitely not helping. Her both hands were now crushed between their tightly entwined bodies as she tried to get warm. "W-We're not . . . g-going to make . . . i-it are w-we?" She asked in a low voice, he could hear the chatter of her teeth as he struggled to get the words out. He himself was starting to feel the effects of the rain. The air was thick with the coldness. A storm it definitely was. A passing one he hoped for both their sake.
"Zoya I'm going to try something that might help okay. I promise you we'll make it." He hoped to God he wasn't making a false promise to this girl as he stretched out horizontally and pulled Zoya into his body as he curled up with her head on his chest and her arms wrapped tightly around her. "This is b-better." She breathed out shakily, her eyes drifting close. Asad shut his eyes and silently prayed for them to be rescued, if not for him but for this girl.
Zoya
Zoya woke to bright dazzling sunlight; she squinted against the pressure of the light against her sensitive eyes. She tried to get up but couldn't move. Allah Miya. . . she was paralyzed! She couldn't move her legs. She started to panic, her heartbeat quickening as she looked down at her body. Wait . . . she wasn't paralyzed just pinned down by this huge man. His leg was thrown over both of hers and his heavy arm was carelessly strewn over her waist where her blouse had ridden up. The palm of his left hand lay low on her stomach making Zoya squirm uncomfortably. His other hand was under her, dangerously close to cupping a part of her that he shouldn't be anywhere near.
"Get off me you big oaf!" She yelled startling him awake as she tried to pry his big arm off her waist. He pulled back immediately and stood up looking away from her. "I'm sorry. I was asleep." That's his explanation for feeling her up in his sleep?
"I don't care if a coconut fell from that tree," she pointed upwards at the tree and continued, "And knocked you unconscious. Don't dare touch me like that again." She seethed. "I mean I thought you were a uncouth person before but taking advantage of me while I was asleep?" She shook her head. She was so angry she started away from him and down the beach close to the shoreline. She didn't know where she was going but she just needed to get away from him for a while till she calmed down.
It was only while she was walking, hair whipping in the gusty wind that she remembered how he took care of her during the night trying to keep her warm. Her throat felt suddenly tight. Allah Miya what was wrong with her? She felt horrible now for yelling at him. She turned back towards the direction from which she came so she could . . . apologize? Yea, apologize. She was wrong. The word left her throat burning.
They were trapped here together after all, the least they could do is try and get along right? She saw him sitting where she left him under the tree, using what seemed like a pocket knife trying to cut a coconut.
"I'm sorry!" she blurted out before she lost her nerve. He looked at her and nodded slightly before returning to his task. "Should we go exploring? I mean and see if there's any life on this island besides us?"
He nodded again, "Sure. But you should stay here. I'd rather if you did. I'll go in a bit. I . . . I'm just cutting you this water-nut before I go. You . . ." he sighed and cleared his throat. "You can eat the jelly inside too." He handed her the cut nut and she smiled slightly. He was talking to her but not really. She had screwed up royally and she felt even worse than before.
As he got up and walked away from her and deeper into the green sea of leaves and bushes, she wished she could call him back and do something . . . anything to erase her behavior from before. But looking at his retreating back . . . she didn't know what to do . . .
