S9 Premiere Preponed !!

The season premiere of Supernatural is closer than originally believed, one week closer to be exact.

Instead of waiting until mid-October to broadcast the first episode of the sci-fi drama, The CW has pushed the premiere date up to Oct. 8 at 9 p.m.

"Official! Because our #SPNFamily deserves it, "Hellatus" has been cut by 1 week. S9 of#Supernatural will start airing Tuesday October 8th!" tweeted producer Jim Michaels on Monday.

As the hit program delves into its ninth season there are a lot of new avenues for the writers to delve into. Following the events of last spring's "Sacrifice," Heaven and Hell are once again in turmoil and Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are caught in the middle.

After Metatron (Curtis Armstong) used Castiel (Misha Collins) to cast the angels out of heaven, Cas is stranded on earth with the rest of his brothers and completely powerless. Meanwhile, Sam is still reeling from the physical implications of the trials, Dean seems to be the only member of the trio who is fully functioning. With Abaddon (Alaina Huffman) on the loose and a partially cured King of Hell (Mark Sheppard) in their possession, it looks like the boys are in for a rough start to the season.

Supernatural has finished shooting episode 2, "Devil May Care," and should be filming the premiere soon.
