jodha's marriage

i am not talking about the serial here,but can someone tell me as to why jodha did not get married at an early age esp considering she lived 500 years ago,also was she actually engaged to someone from the rajput clan before she got married to akbar and if infact her engagement was broken howcome her father dint find any other rajput suitor for her?..i knw its been a month since the serial started but can smone plz explain this...why did jodha get married to akbar in the first place.

Hey in movie they have showed that jodha was engaged when she is child !And marriage with akbar is an political agreement .

As far as I know the entire Rajputana had broken its ties with Amer, probably the reason why Bhairamal went to Akbar with the marriage proposal.
