"Good luck dude." Nitin whispers in my ear. I look towards him totally confused. He looks as if he's enjoying some kind of internal joke.

"Manvi is your partner for the project." he's laughing silently clutching his stomach.
Why? I mean how? Really?
"WHAT??!!!"I hear her loud exclamation. I look at her and find her looking back at me. She's totally in shock. Like me?

"mannu look at the dress!!!It's so beautiful." I was completely lost in my thoughts when jeevi's voice brought me back.
"Hmm….yes it is." I look at the dress. The finery of the dress couldn't get my attention. If it was some other time then it'd have been me playing jeevi's part. But today I was occupied with some other thoughts. I'm here for some particular thing n was looking for some particular shops. I couldn't go straight to that section as it would make jeevi go 20 questions on me.
"Mannu what's wrong? You look lost. What is it?" Crap. Jeevi. You're not my mom.
"Nothing. I'm just thinking of a combination for a new dress. Peach n cream. Will that be good?" A pure white lie. Please jeevi just go with it.
"Hmm…nice combo." thank god she bought it.
"Jeevi I don't think we'll find the dress here. Let's check out some accessories." I said after some more wandering.
"Okay."yes!!!She's tired.
We go to the 3rd level and I smile inwardly. Mission accomplished. Just the place where I wanted to be.
"This way jeevi." I drag her with me.

Late by an hour. Hope she's not here yet.
I park my bike n walk towards the entrance.
Shit!!! Maya!!! And she's coming towards me.

I sigh in relief. I lift my gaze n find Manvi leaning on a pillar crossing her arms over her chest.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't expect you to be on time. I mean that smirk on your face. I thought you're gonna make me wait. and I absolutely hate waiting." I come up with some excuse. Lame? I know.
"So u thought of making me wait instead?"uff!!She's way too angry.
"I'm sorry again. Is there any way I can make it upto you? Please forgive me." I plead.
"Fine. But your card is marked so-called-I-don't-do-late Vadhera!!!."She lets it go.
I finally release a breath of relief.
Hang on!!!…there's a ghost of a smile playing on her lips.

"Nope. just 5 min before you came." she shakes her head. "But how do you know? What gave me away?" she's really curious.
"Your smile. You can't lie very well." I relax while she scrunches her nose.
Something is different about her today. But what? I can't put my finger on it.
