As human beings we all have shades and sides to us, some vary distinctly and some are just different versions of our basic personality.
I don't remember being fond of a character on tv as much as I've grown to love Mohan Bhatnagar. There have been characters I've fallen in love with and lived with them in books but not so much on television. Loving a show is another thing and loving characters is another. So much so that it resonates within you, and you take something with you from the character once it all ends.
Very few people are fortunate enough to be able to play 3 different characters with the same production house, in the same show and pull it all off very convincingly.
The first Mohan Bhatnagar that we all began to love was someone who we could call a boy next door persona. Someone who was utterly carefree, extremely passionate and had his own set of rules that he went by. He wore his heart on his sleeve yet maintained a safe distance from people he knew would end up breaking him just a little more from the inside. Or those who had a chance or way to peep inside the vulnerable man he was. A little boy in a mans body. Though he did lose hope at certain turns of his life then, he always maintained this positive energy in himself. He was a sun and a rainbow for people around him.
Then came the older Bhatnagar, who was a much maturer version of the earlier Mohan. He was responsible, he didnt have time to loaft around. His spark of energy was left behind. Yet he was still the same Mohan we all loved. A wise man with a heart of gold. Passionate for his family, and wise and responsible for the entire world.
And then came Vasu, almost the opposite of Mohan Bhatnagar. He has no sense of right or wrong. He just knows how to keep his dear ones happy. At any cost. He is arrogant, and angry. Yet, he has that tiny bit of Mohan Bhatnagar in him.
These three characters are variations of the same person. And they have been acted out extremely well, very convincingly. That these characters have started resonating within you. Like you know them personally. Like you've been with them, sat and had a conversation with them.
There was much more that I had to say. But my brain works faster than I type :P and I lose track of thought.
So I might come back and add on. And conclude this.
Till then, I hope you all had something to ponder over.
Love,
Me
