After college I went around looking for him, not surprisingly he wasn't there. In a way, I felt like an obsessive girlfriend looking for her long-lost boyfriend. I didn't want to be desperate, so I gave up and left the college grounds. I checked my phone for the time, but instead I found a message on my phone from Arnav.

Meet at the diner by the beach.

I read the message again in case I got it wrong and then after a long hard minute I had decided that it was from him and it did say to go to the diner by the beach. I turned around quickly and walked fast down to the diner. I found the diner and walked in, then suddenly got nervous; I was worried about what he might say.

I found Arnav sitting at a table in the corner of the diner. I sighed and slowly walked up to him.

"Hey." I smiled.

"Hi." He replied not smiling or showing any emotion at all.

"I need to talk to you." I said ignoring his emotion-less face.

"Yeah, me too." He gestured to the empty sea across from him. I sat down and opened my mouth to speak but Arnav cut me off.

"About yesterday, forget everything. I know we had a lot of fun this week, but I don't think we should keep hanging out."

"What?" I said as I was literally shocked.

"I think we should go back to what we were last year."

"What? Why? What about the things you said to me yesterday?"

"Khushi." Arnav stopped. "I think you should just let it go."

"But, I get a say in this don't I?"

"I guess."

"I still want to be friends ' But." Arnav cut me off and no way was he going to stop me. I cut HIM off.

"No, I want to say this. The truth is' I really like you, more than a friend, but if you really want to go back to being strangers, then okay. If you're happy' I'm happy." I got up and stormed off. I was so angry and upset at the same time. Tears dripped down my face as I stomped off. This is it! Grr!! This is the last time I'm gonna get my hopes up with a guy.

By the time I got home I had calmed down and there were no signs of me crying and being upset. I walked in and noticed that Aarti and NK were dressed in their best dresses, or suits in NK's case.

"What's going on?" I ask as I shut the door.

"Oh honey, you're finally home! Quick Khushi go upstairs and put on the dress and shoes I laid out for you in your room." Aarti comes up to me and pushes me up the stairs.

"What?" I asked.

"Tell you later, we're already late."

I then quickly ran upstairs and found a beautiful aqua coloured dress on my bed. I quickly put on the dress and shoes and went into the bathroom and grabbed a bottle of liquid body foundation for my scars.

I quickly ran downstairs almost tripping.

"Wow, you look amazing!" Aarti said as she walked up to hug me. "I hear ya!" NK laughs. "Now let's go!!" Aarti yells pushing us out the door as NK and I laughed.

"So where we going?" I ask in the car ride.

"NK's friend has invited us for dinner and we're breaking the news around the wedding to them. NK's hoping his friend would want to become his best man." Aarti says to me as she helps me with the body foundation.

"Right." I said as I really couldn't care less as I have more teenage boy dramas on my mind.

We got to a really fancy restaurant and like every other fancy restaurant the valet took the keys and parked our car. NK and Aarti walking in first as I followed on behind, I just wanted this night to be over.

NK started talking about reservations to the lady that gives you your table, she then guided us into a private room.

There was a man and a woman sitting next to each other at the table. "Hey!" A man got up from the table and man hugged NK, but there was something familiar about this man, he was really, really familiar. There was lady that was sitting next to him was now greeting Aarti, but she was turned away so I couldn't tell who it was.

"Khushi! Wow, you've grown up a lot haven't you?" The man said, I looked at him, how'd he know my name? How does he know what I looked like when I was younger?

"Oh Khushi, don't you remember me? Surely you remember my son?"

"Um, I don't think so, sorry." I said a little embarrassed.

"You don't remember your childhood best friend? You don't remember how you guys also became more than friends? If you know what I mean?" The man laughed.

That's when it hit me, of course I remember my best friend from when I was younger, of course I remember my first boyfriend and my first kiss.

"Sorry I'm late!"

I turned around to see Karan standing right before my eyes.

I sighed and grabbed the bowl of popcorn and munched on it as I watched some boring cartoon about this guy who has 3 wishes and he was wishing for more and more wishes. The cartoon started to get boring as it was so obvious what was gonna happen next, so I took the bowl of popcorn and chucked it in the bin. I took the bowl and put it in the dishwasher and went back upstairs.

I checked my phone and found 4 messages all from Arnav, 3 of them were about me ignoring him and whatnot, and the last one was about him coming over. As soon as I finished reading the message the doorbell rang. I quickly ran downstairs and reached the door, I opened it and "surprise, surprise" Arnav was standing in front of me. He was wearing a plain faded green t-shirt and shorts.

"Hey." He said smiling at me. "Uh, hey. Um, come in." I said shakily as I didn't know what to say. Arnav then smiled and walked in. As soon as he was in the house he turned around and looked me in the eye. "Khushi, did you really mean what you said yesterday at the diner?" Arnav asked. I shut the door and sighed. "Yeah... I did."

"Then that's good, because I really want you to be with me. I want you to be my girlfriend... Well, if you want to be. Khushi, will you be my girlfriend?"

I smiled at him but just as I was about to say yes, a picture of Karan popped up in my head. I started to think about the kiss we just shared. I then suddenly thought about how Karan and I were best friends and if we started to go out and we breakup... it could change everything.

"Khushi? Khushi?" I heard Arnav's voice calling my name.
"Huh? Yeah?"
"Khushi, will you be my girlfriend?"
I smiled and said, "Yeah."
"Great!"
"Wait one problem." I said suddenly thinking of Lavanya.

"What?" Arnav said confused.
"Uh, Lavanya."
"Uh yeah, she couldn't care less. She hates me now because she knows what we've been hanging out and all, which is good because I would choose you over her any day."
"Aw, thanks." I smiled as I felt my cheeks go hot.
"Well, anyway. I've got to go to football practice but text me okay?"
"Yep. Bye." I said as he left in his brand new silver BMW.

As soon as he left I went back upstairs and grabbed my phone. I searched for Payal's number and dialed it.

"Hello?"
"Hey Em, it's Khushi."
"Oh hey! What's up?"
"Um, where do I start? I kissed Karan and then Arnav came by and now we're going out."
"What?! You kissed Karan?"
"Yeah."
"I thought you guys weren't talking?"
"No, we fixed things."

"Right, so now you go out with Arnav."
"Yeah."
"Does Karan know?"
"No, how do you think I should tell him?"
"Um... I dunno. Something like sorry I chose Arnav, but I still wanna be friends?"
"Ohh okay, thanks."
"No problem! Anyway I gotta go. But text me kay?"
"Yeah, see yah."

I put the phone down and sighed. Karan said he was okay if I chose Arnav, so I guess we would be fine... right?

That night I laid in bed going over how I was gonna tell Karan that I was going out with Arnav. I suddenly heard my phone go off. I got up in my bed and took my phone off my bedside table. It was a text message from Arnav.
"Sweet Dreams x"

I smiled as I read his text; I started to feel bubbly inside. It was bittersweet. I chose Arnav over Karan but I really do like Arnav. He's really sweet, nice and was really fun and comfortable to be around. In a way I'm glad I'm going out with Arnav.
