Friends, I have doubt after seeing today's episode. Normally Godh Bharai fn shall be performed only for the first child of the daughter in law. It is applicable to all the daughter in laws of the family only for their first born. not for each and every child. Moreover it is not correct that the function shall be performed only for the first daughter in law who has married the eldest son of the family. I am from south Indian Brahmin family. We name the fn as Seemanthem in our side.

sorry to contradict u..."god bharai" perform before every child..not only before 1st child... i have no idea what happen in south indian family but in eastern india god bharai performed before every child

In Gujrathi castes We have the Seemanth ceremony for the first born for sure. Poori family mein kisi ko second child nahi hai so detail mein pata nahi.

But generally God bharai har bacche ke liye hoti hi hai. Baby shower is to bless the mother and child.

It is attended only by married women.

Seemanth is done from in -laws ka side and the the girl goes for delivery to her maternal home. She returns 45 days after the baby is born.

In some cultures it is only for 1st child while in oters its for every child.
