As a bit of a bias, I would strongly recommend the volumes "Saraswatichandra" by Govardhanram Madhavaram Tripathi!
They're a huge collection... extremely scholarly, and perhaps you might not like the ending... but they're undeniably beautiful! I have to start reading these ones myself 😳

Another good one I would recommend "The Romantics" by Pankaj Mishra 😊

All three of Ashwin Sanghi's novels make a good read, especially Chanakya's Chant. They are kind of similar to Dan Brown's works.

And The God of Small Things by arundhati roy's great too. I found it pretty boring on the first try but after trying it again I think it brings out the themes of class discrimination and forbidden love very beautifully.

You can try The Impressionist by Hari Kunzru. Its a great story. Or if you have loads of time and patience A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth. Also try Vikram Chandra, Jhumpa Lahiri and Amitav Ghosh

I would highly recommend The Palace of Illusions by Chitra B. Divakaruni. The author has a way with words, and views things from a fresh angle.

Amitav Ghosh's The Shadow Lines.

Salman Rushdie's Haroun and the Sea of Stories.

Enjoy!!
