An Open Letter To Hrithik Roshan

Dear Hrithik,

You must be a brave man. Calling a brain surgery a minor affair! I love your positivity. An attitude like that means half the battle is won.

News of your surgery did come as a shock. It was out of the blue. I'm sure your family, friends, well-wishers and even fans are equally distraught. But with news of the successful operation, everyone is heaving a sigh of relief. I can imagine the worry your family must be going through right now even as you are on the road to recovery.

Uppermost on their mind will be their worry about you wanting to be a hero!

Now don't get me wrong here. According to reports, you were injured while rehearsing for a stunt for your upcoming film, BANG BANG.

While it's best to do your own stunts, provided they are in the ambit of being termed as 'safe', why do stunts that require special skills? I mean it's OK to be a hero on screen. And we all know that heroes are heroes and they do all the stunts on screen even though it's a duplicate hanging out there 30 feet from a chopper! That's the real world.

So why risk your life and limb doing what you are not equipped to do? Stunts like you were attempting in Phuket require a special skill set and astute alertness of mind and body. The mind and body has to work in sync and the limbs have to be ready to move at the sound of 'action'. Being a stuntman is different from being a hero. A stuntman cannot be a hero. Neither can a hero be a stuntman. Unless of course, you are a martial arts exponent like Vidyut Jamwal who has trained his body to go through fire.

You are one among the rare breed of actors who got a roaring start at the box office. Of late, you have deliberately gone slow and that is a wise choice. It's pointless doing films you are not comfortable with. It's better to put your all into a film that you believe in. But putting your all does not necessarily mean risking life and limb.

You have a family to come back home to. You are an actor first. And a bloody good one at that.

In future, I hope you do not attempt to do things, which commonsense says you should not. Respect life, do things you are comfortable doing. Do not attempt to risk everything just for a fleeting moment of adrenaline rush. At the age of 18 to 24, it is understandable. At 39???

Praying for your speedy recovery and that you are back to doing what you love doing... being in front of the camera.

Not hanging on a rope mid-air!

God Bless You.

Innocence inspires so silently and discreetly and yet all so powerfully!
Missing my sons. (I'm not allowed to see them yet..).
The following words I write for them inspired BY them...And wish to hear it from them someday ...

If I could fly... i'd fly my highest.
When I can run... i'll run my fastest.
If I walk... i'll walk my tallest.
If I stand... i'll stand my strongest.
If I need to sit... i'll sit with my head up.
If I must sleep... i'll soar above clouds in my mind.
If I can...I will. I can. So I will.
I'm Great. No matter what.

Hrithik excited to hear from Dharam

One of the first calls that Roshan got in hospital was from the veteran actor, who is in the USA

Since his brain surgery, Hrithik Roshan has been visited by a host of celebrities. But on Tuesday morning, he was in for a sweet surprise when veteran actor Dharmendra personally called him from the US (where the Deol family has gone for a wedding). And Hrithik, who is a die-hard fan of the actor, was over the moon with the "sweet and warm gesture".

"Dharamji called Hrithik at around 9 am. And it was one of the first calls Hrithik took from the hospital as he wasn't allowed to use his mobile phone immediately after his surgery. So it was a happy co-incidence that a few minutes after he was handed over his phone, Dharamji called up," says an insider. "When Hrithik was 9, he had a huge Dharmendra poster in his wardrobe. He has also been impressed with the yesteryear star's warm nature and fit physique," adds the insider. A few days ago, Hrithik had even made it to Yamla Pagla Deewana 2's music launch on the Sholay (1975) actor's invitation.

Apparently, the veteran actor also made detailed enquiries about Hrithik's surgery and the cause behind it. "Dharamji was, of course, very concerned. In fact, he even asked him to take precautions while performing stunts. After the call, Hrithik was so happy that he ended up telling almost everyone, including his father Rakesh Roshan, about the special call that he received," adds the insider.

When contacted, Rakesh Roshan confirms the development, saying, "Yes, Dharamji called Duggu up. I have always been very close to him. We are like family."

To Hrithik with love

Karan Johar is gifting the actor a personalised DVD of his latest film, Yeh Jawani...

Hrithik Roshan, who underwent a successful brain surgery at Khar's Hinduja Healthcare Surgical on Sunday, July 7, after a blood clot was detected between his brain and the left side of his skull, is being discharged from the hospital at around 9.30am today.

Little does the actor know what lies in store for him. Mirror has learnt that Karan Johar - none of whose films Hrithik has ever missed watching - has planned a surprise gift for the actor. The gift in question being a DVD of Karan's latest release, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, directed by Ayan Mukerji.

Karan has taken pains to ensure all the film's scenes have a watermark titled 'Hrithik' not only to personalise the gift but also thwart possible attempts at piracy, considering there is no DVD of Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani in the market yet.

The story goes that a few months ago, Hrithik happened to be shooting the promos of Krrish 3 at the same studio where Ayan was shooting the trailer of Yeh Jawani… Hrithik remarked that he loved whatever he saw of Ayan's upcoming film.

The exchange ended with Karan and Ayan promising Hrithik a special screening of Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani.

However, every time the duo tried to organise the screening, Hrithik was somehow unavailable. The first time around, he got busy travelling to Greece and then the US. Later, at the time of the film's release, Hrithik started complaining of recurrent headaches and severe back pain.

Yesterday, when Karan visited Hrithik in hospital, he hinted to Sussanne that he would be gifting the actor a custom-made DVD of the film. Hrithik was not told anything.

Ever since, the filmmaker has been busy making good his promise, personally supervising the process of copying the film onto the DVD and inserting the watermark. The present is likely to be delivered to Hrithik's home tonight.
