What age should kids leave school?😉

Do you agree with government proposals to raise the school leaving age to 18? What do you think is the best age to leave school? 😕

The Department for Education and Skills has confirmed plans to raise the school leaving age to 18 by 2013. 😛

Pupils won't have to stay in the classroom or continue with academic lessons but they will be expected to continue to receive training.😃

The leaving age was last increased in 1972 when it was raised to the present 16 years old. 😊

Do you agree with the proposals? Are they best way to tackle the problem of young people leaving education without qualifications or workplace skills? What is the best age for leaving school?😃

here is my thought :-

"It is impossible to make people learn if they are not motivated to do so.
How many of us were asked to choose subjects to study to exam level at the age of
13 without any real sense of who we were or what life had in store.
Perhaps it's time for a more radical re-think. Get the fundamental building blocks right i.e. The Three R's, instil self respect, self belief, respect for society and encourage pride
If we do this then I think leaving school at 14 is a viable option, but with 3 years education available in an "Education Bank" this could then be accessed as a funded return to education (full time, part time or evenings) when an individual decides that they have a need and are ready."

A Person gets out of 10th grade at 15, out of 12th at 17, choose a proffession at 17 and decides where to go at 17, 18th he/she has spent one year into it

if he/she gets out at 18, which is a minimal age, there is one year wasted which had absolutely no purpose

I think 17 is the right age which is followed in most schools in India. But in M'bai and in several other places in India the concept of junior college works where by a 15 year old beings to go to college. This is a tender age and if the child makes one wrong decision/comes in bad company they're doomed.

So there should be school till 17 years. Plus, 17-18 is the age when children can decide about their future career choice. 15 is too early for it!
