More than his work, he has made headlines for his love life. Anuj Sachdeva was reportedly dating Urvashi Dholakia, but he has never come on record and admitted it. They were together for few months and then supposedly broke up because Anuj's parents didn't approve of Urvashi. (She is older than him and is a mother of two kids).
"I am very much single. I am looking for a perfect match for me. I would never say that Urvashi and I were dating. I have never spoken about her. We both respect and care about each other. I speak to many girls, but that doesn't mean I am dating all of them," he avers.
Anuj is also 'famous' for throwing tantrum and showing attitude. "I don't talk to a lot of people and that is why they think I have an attitude. I am also choosy about my projects so when I say no, the makers can't take it and spread a word that I have loads of attitude. Rumours take place depending on the situation — I don't care about such issues. I am selective and that is why I took my own time to be back on TV," clarifies Anuj.
Well, this time, the actor is being talked about for his sizzling chemistry with Sanaya Irani in Chhanchhan. He has replaced newbie Farhan Khan and has also been accepted well by the audiences. "I don't consider my role of Manav Borisagar as a replacement. I am happy that viewers like me in the show. Lot of people have complimented me for my performance. I always wanted to do Chhanchhan. I do shows where my heart lies," says Anuj.
He is back on the small screen after a very long time, and that too as a replacement. So wasn't he skeptical of doing this character? (The role wasn't going down well with the audiences too.) "I need to take risks. If I don't take risks then how can I prove myself? Today lot of people want to do television and there is tough competition. At the same time there is no difference in working in both the mediums — films and television. There are lot of opportunities, you just need to give your best shot," says Anuj who is having a fun time working with Sanaya Irani. Interestingly, Sanaya has also hit headlines for being arrogant. But Anuj seems to share a comfortable relationship with her. "I can't comment about the rest, but Sanaya is cool with me. We crack jokes and laugh the entire day. She gives me tips on how to perform better as Manav because she knows the character well, and I am open to learning from her," he clarifies.
If not an actor, Anuj clearly states that he would have been a footwear designer. His family is into shoe designing and he was involved in the business for three years before he got into acting. "I love shoes — I have around 25 pair of shoes. Whenever I meet a girl, the first thing I notice is her shoes," says the Delhi boy with a laugh.
With number of shows airing on TV these days, does he feel shows have no recall value and actors fail to strike a chord with the viewers? "These days too many shows and films are launched every week. There was a time when only one film was released every Friday, today there are around three to four new releases every week. But one can grab attention with one's performance," says Anuj who has signed an untitled Hindi film and a Punjabi film Haani. "I might not play the lead role in a film, but it's fine with me. The length of my role doesn't matter. I want to be known as an actor, not a star," says Anuj who also plans to set up his own production house some time in future.
