Awesome man! I loved the way Asad realizes how Zoya must be feeling and you depicted Zoya's dependence on Asad beautifully!!! I loved both part 2 and 3 to bits! You are a really gifted writer dear!! Continue this Supersoon!!!
Last update for the weekend! (:
Through The Monsoon: Part 4
A flash of lightning danced across the sky when the lights in the room flickered off. Asad and Zoya broke apart just as the sound of thunder resonated through the house. Asad walked over to the entrance of the room to try his luck at switching the light back on, but nothing happened despite the number of times he flicked the switch.
"Lagta hai light chali gayi hai," Asad stated as he looked back at Zoya, who rolled her eyes at him. It was quite hilarious how Asad had a penchant for stating the obvious. She began to walk out of the room without answering, using the little sunlight shining through the dark clouds to guide herself out. Asad followed behind her, a little confused. Zoya made her way to the small fuse box in the house and opened it, staring intently at the wires inside before picking at them.
"Nothing seems to be working," Zoya admitted, a little begrudged. She enjoyed fixing things, especially when Asad was around. She knew it impressed him, even if he refused to admit it. She wasn't sure why impressing him was important to her though. Distracted by her thoughts, Zoya's wandering finger touched the end of a wire she hadn't reconnected, zapping her a little.
"OUCH!" Zoya shrieked, as she quickly pulled her hand away from the fuse box, clasping the hurt finger tightly. Before her brain could even finish registering the pain, Asad clasped her wrist, pulled her finger out of her grasp and placed it in his mouth, sucking it lightly. Zoya gasped softly, partially because of the unexpectedness of it all, but mostly because the feeling of Asad's tongue darting across her finger was making her feel so warm inside. He had never seemed hotter to Zoya than at that very moment. Asad removed her finger within a good 10 seconds following that, realizing how inappropriate his immediate reaction was. He let go of her wrist and turned away, staring at the ground awkwardly.
"Woh... aap... I mean, can't you be careful? Aapko kuch ho jaata toh?" Asad finally managed to string his sentences together, anger taking over his tone easily. He knew he wasn't really angry at her though. He was angry at himself, for not staying within his limits.
"I'll go check the main fuse box outside the house. You wait here," Asad quickly announced, not allowing Zoya any time to respond. He strode to the kitchen and opened one of the cabinets, peering in to look for some candles.
"Aap kya dhundh rahe ho?" Zoya asked, as she appeared close behind him. Asad clutched the cabinet door in fright, the suddenness of her arrival scaring him a bit. He closed his eyes in frustration. Hadn't he told her not to tag along? All he really wanted to do was have some time alone to collect his thoughts. He shut the cabinet with more force than required, before turning around to face Zoya, his arms naturally crossing across his chest.
"If you must know, I'm looking for some candles. The main fuse box is in that little hut next to the front door, can you see it? I'm pretty sure it must be dark in there. And so I need some light to work on the wires. Now will you go sit on the sofa and let me find the candles?" Asad explained painfully slowly, as he pointed at the hut outside the house through the window first, before moving his finger to point at the sofas in the living room, hoping that Zoya would just listen to him for once.
"Allah miyan, what's wrong with you Mr Khan? You're looking for candles?! Aap sach mein kitne old-fashioned ho! I have a torchlight app on my phone, see? We can just use that," Zoya beamed proudly, as she fiddled with her phone for a second before the light from her app flashed on Asad's face, blinding him temporarily.
Asad was still blinking his eyes repeatedly in an attempt to regain his vision when he noticed that Zoya had already made her way to the front door, and she was in the process of stepping out of the house. Asad sighed loudly as he walked briskly to catch up with her, but the sound of his own sigh drowned in the sound of another roll of thunder. Zoya had never, ever complied with anything he told her, he didn't know why he had even thought she would now.
He shut the front door behind him and ran through the rain shortly to reach the hut, where Zoya had thankfully left the hut door open for him. He entered it and shut the door behind him, in an attempt to stop the rain from coming in. Darkness engulfed the both of them, with only the tiny light from Zoya's phone illuminating their faces as they stood nose to nose in the small hut.
Asad had watched a fair share of horror movies, in which light was usually shone from under the actor's chin in order to give an illusion of terror to the audience when his or her face appeared on screen. Zoya was holding the light under their chins in that very way, but she didn't look scary at all. In fact, the way the light was enhancing the brightness of her smile and depth of her dimple made her look even more beautiful than she already was. Was there ever a time when she didn't look beautiful? Asad's mind wandered off as he tried to answer the question he had posed to himself, but he really couldn't think of any such time. He snapped out of his thoughts when he heard Zoya clearing her throat exaggeratedly loudly.
"I can't hold the light and fix the wires at the same time, so..." Zoya explained as soon as she'd gotten Asad out of his daydream. She stretched her arm out and offered Asad her phone, hoping that he'd take it and hold it for her. But he surprised her by turning away from her, facing the fuse box instead.
"It's your phone and your brilliant app right? Then you hold it. I'll fix the wires while you hold up the light for me," Asad said decidedly, as he waited patiently in front of the fuse box for Zoya to make her decision and flash the light on the box. A small smile appeared on his face when he heard Zoya breathe out heavily before holding her phone up and aiming it at the box. She didn't want to obey him earlier, so he wouldn't obey her either. It was only fair right?
