An hour later, they both had finally finished their dinner. Khushi had not spoken much during dinner as she was still trying to come to terms with everything that had happened. She was happy, she had always been attracted towards Arnav, but somehow she could never place her feelings correctly. She had never known weather what she felt for him was mere attraction or love, but today when he had finally told her what he felt for her, she had been able to point out what had been happening to her, how everytime he would come near her she would feel her breathe get caught in her throat and her heart would start beating at a rapid speed. Today she had finally gotten answers for a lot of questions.
In the past month she had always thought that he felt nothing for her. Yes, there were times when she would think that maybe he liked her but she had always brushed those thoughts off because she could never imagine that Arnav Singh Raizada would like a girl like her. He had so many models in micro mini skirts and even smaller shirts roaming around him, he could always choose any of them, then why would he like her?
She had so many questions in her mind but she knew that only time could answer all of them for her. She knew it was too early to question him as theirs was a new, unstable relationship. She had to give time to him, to herself and to their relationship.
She saw Arnav get up from his chair and come to her side.
"Should we leave?"
"Um.. Arnav, could we stay here for a little while, I wanted to talk to you about something." She asked, not sure if it was okay to ask but she wanted a few things to be clear before they ended the day. She was not sure when she would get to be alone with him and have a peaceful talk what with the new fashion show coming up in a few weeks.
"Sure."
He held her hand and started walking towards a nearby tree. He sat down on the grass and held his hand out for her to take. She looked at him wide eyed. She had never seen him do any such thing. In normal circumstances he would have made a big issue if asked to sit on the ground, saying something on the lines of his very expensive Armani suit getting dirty, but for the first time she knew she was going to take his place.
"What? Why are you sitting there? Won't your exquisite, antique, one of a kind Armani suit get dirty?" she asked
"Oh come on Khush why cant you just sit down, is sitting on the grass too low for you standard?" he asked, smirking. He knew he was inviting danger for himself but he had always loved the fiery Khushi. Right on cue Khushi glared at him.
"Oh look whos talking." She said, sarcasm dripping from her voice.
"Really? Then why cant you just sit down?"
"I can, but I'm not going to because I am wearing an extremely beautiful saree which I am not ready to ruin by sitting there" she said, pointing her finger to the ground.
" Oh alright, then why don't you just sit here" he said.
"Wher-" she started only to feel his hands holding her wrist and pulling her down.
She closed her eyes, scared as to where she would fall but suddenly found herself hit a hard chest and felt two hands holding her from her waist. She didn't know what had happened and took a few moments to let it seep in before she realized where she was and her eyes popped out of her sockets. She looked at him wide eyed. A few seconds later he saw her eyes and finger moving from his face to his lap, where she was sitting, her eyes and mouth open wide.
He looked on amused at the picture she had created in front of him. Finally he saw her eyes and finger fixed on him. He looked at her for a second, waiting for her to respond but when he found none, he moved his finger to her chin and closed her mouth, he then took hold of her finger and held her hand.
She just looked at him doing everything and finally getting her thoughts in place, she tried to move from his lap only to be pulled further into him. He held her tightly by her waist smirking at her before he spoke,
"I remember you said that you didn't want this beautiful saree to spoil? So I thought that maybe I could be your chair for the evening."
"Arnav stop it, let me go, someone might see us." She said squirming in his lap.
"Oh no one would see us because there is no one here except us, as you might not have noticed." He said smirking at her.
She let out a sigh, she knew there was no point of saying anything to him because at the end of the day he would do whatever he wants. A few minutes passed by with Khushi being extremely alert of her surroundings until she finally calmed down and drowned herself in the intoxicating smell of his cologne. She kept her head on his shoulder as they sat in complete silence.
Arnav had noticed how Khushi seemed to be in deep thoughts since they started dinner but he didn't want to say anything because he knew she wanted some time to accept everything. He put his arms around her waist and pulled her tightly against his body when he noticed how she stiffened for a moment before calming down. He was loosing it, he knew she had something on her mind and he wanted her to share it with him, whatever it might be, they could go through it together. He moved him arms from around her to her arms and pulled her away from himself. Looking into her eyes, he said
"Khush, sweetheart, what is it? What is bothering you? Could you please tell me whats going on in your mind because I am absolutely loosing you here." He pleaded with his eyes and she sighed. She had to speak to him about it.
"Arnav-" she hesitated when he started soothing her with his hands moving along her arms, calming her down. "our relationship is very new and very unstable at the moment. I just want us to keep this, what is happening between us, a secret right now. I want to be sure that what we have is not something temporary, I want us forever but there are a lot of things that I am still not sure about, questions that need to be answered. I still cant understand why you would choose me when you have so many better options. I don't want us to end, ever, and the only thing that would give me surety is time. But before that I want us to keep this relationship hidden from everyone because if we don't work out, I don't want that to affect Payal jiji and Akash jijus relationship." She finished looking down at their entwined hands, playing with his fingers.
Arnav knew what she wanted. She wanted surety and he would give her just that, even if it meant hiding their relationship from everyone. He took hold of her hand and squeezed it tightly, making her look at him.
"Love, if that is what you want, then that is how its going to be. We wont tell anyone about our relationship till you're not willing to tell them but I have to make one thing clear." He said holding her gaze, " Khush, you were never an option, infact you never had any kind of competition, if that's what you're referring to. From the day you had walked into my cabin for the first time, I knew there was never going to be any other woman I would ever want. You know what I think about marriage, you know I don't believe in it, but you should also know that I am ready to do anything for you, even marry you. I know how much these rituals mean to you and if marriage is the only way to keep you with me forever, then I am ready to do that as well. Yes, I want to marry you Khushi, I want to have kids with you and grow old with you, but that would all happen when the time is right. Before any of that comes, I want us to spend time together, get to know each other. I want you to be comfortable around me, to be able to say anything to me, if that meant that you would yell at me, then be it. I just want you with me forever, Khush, can I expect us to work towards that?" he asked, his voice and eyes filled with love for the woman sitting on his lap.
She had heard every single word he had said and was loving how he was trying his best to assure her that he was fully committed to her. She knew how he had never wanted to get married, he had told her once that he was not against marriage but he was just not comfortable with sharing his life with someone else, he had said that he had lived so much time of his life alone that now, sharing his life, with someone else didn't seem like a very good idea, but today he was ready to marry her. He was ready to share everything he had with her, his family, his room, his life, only because she believed in all of it. She had never felt so loved and protected in her entire life. She wanted to say something but knew that words could never express what she felt at that moment and so she did the next best thing. She threw her arms around his neck hiding her face in the crook of his neck.
"Thank you Arnav, for everything. I know how hard you're trying to assure me that you love me but its just really difficult for me to come to terms with the fact that a person like you could ever love me! You are the hottest bachelor in town while I'm a no one! Please just give me some time." She said while tears came out of her eyes wetting his neck.
He felt something warm and watery on his neck and realized that she was crying. Pulling her away from him, he cupped her face and rubbed his thumb along her cheeks.
"Shh, Khushi, Please don't cry. Take all the time in the world but just don't cry" he soothed.
"Arnav, I do love you, theres no denying that and I don't want to stay away from you. So please don't distance yourself from me just so you can give me space to deal with all this." She said, knowing he would distance himself only because she wanted space but she could never handle that. She was surprised at how her mind and heart were working. Till yesterday, she never thought that she would not be able to live without him but today after everything that happened, the last thing she wanted was a distance between them.
"Whatever you say, Love." He said pulling her back to himself, soothing her.
They sat like that for a while before deciding that it was late and they should be heading back home.
15 minutes later they were outside Khushi's house when they noticed the awkward silence that had resided between them. Khushi was about to leave when she felt her hand being pulled back. She looked back and saw Arnav looking at her.
"Goodnight Khush." He said and leaned forward to give her a kiss. His lips touched her soft ones when she automatically parted her lips. He entered her mouth, deepening the kiss, sucking on her lips.
After a few moments they parted from each other, breathing heavily. Khushi's cheeks adorned a slight blush while she looked down, fidgeting with her saree pallu. Arnav smirked seeing her blush.
"Bye Khush, Love you."
"Bye" she replied shying away and left to enter her flat.
Arnav entered his house with a wide smile on his face. He had not expected his day to go this good. After spending time with her he had gotten to know that she was hesitant as to why he would love her, but he had to do something about that. He had to make sure she never felt that she was not a part of his life, because she definitely was. He had never smiled or laughed in his entire life as much as he had in the past month and she was the only reason behind it. He knew he had to make her feel special, feel loved and he would leave no stones unturned in doing that. He had noticed how she was uncomfortable with his past relationships, even though she had not mentioned it even once but the way she kept talking about him having so many options yet choosing her, he had understood that she was in a way referring to his past. He couldn't let his past affect his future, which he wanted with Khushi, he couldn't loose her at any cost. She needed time and he would give her exactly that.
Keeping his thoughts aside he headed towards his bed only to wake up to a new morning of his new journey with Khushi.
