See as a child the love you feel for things or persons is more obsessive. The feeling is strong but it is more the selfish kind of love - a love that wants to be returned with the same intensity by the other person.
But a more mature form of love - true love that is - is more self giving - sacrificing- unconditional - nonexpectant. Most people get stuck in the selfish 'me' kind of love.
It is quite rare to find or grow into the more mature variety-the kind of love a mother has for her child - or in this case Gauri has for Shiv. I suspect Shiv is also feeling the same kind of love for Gauri (from his care and concern for her) but his obsession with Ipshi is currently blinding him to that fact.
As to the two rooms I feel they (Shiv and Ipshi) have not yet consummated their relationship (for fear of the kundali for it is not yet clear if the technicality of marriage is what will affect the girl or the actual union of two people). The obsession on Shiv's part then would be stronger since the need is yet to be fulfilled.
