In the novel, I believe that Pramad's parents are very nice people and the dad is a powerful politician. Infact Pramad's dad becomes quite fond of Saras who works as his assistant; infact he wishes that Pramad was like Saras. Pramad of course is abusive, a womanizer, and a alcoholic.
