All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players.
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts...

William Shakespeare, "As You Like It"

Dear Friends!!

As a part of life ,we encounter, face several situations in life, some are good, some are bad situations.Sometimes we are a part of it,some times we are not a part of it.For some situations we don't react as if we are or were not part of it.We act as if that issue or incident has'nt occured.

Let me explain.

Say we are going on road. Some accident occurs to someone on the road, most of just have a glance at them, pity for them and go on our own way on our work,we will not help those accident victims fearing about the issues of police case.We act as if we did'nt see any thing and go back to our works(we feel pity for those people on that day..atmost).Afterwards,when we get a chance to speak about compassion, service to fellow beings we speak a lot.WE ALL ARE GOOD ACTORS,WE ACT WELL IN THE STAGE called WORLD.

Say we got a chance to donate money to some school or hospital. Then we contribute less by saying we will decentalize the funds to several charity channels but we may not contribute to the channels we planned to do so.Again when we get a chance to speak about charity,we speak about it.WE ALL ARE GOOD ACTORS.WE ACT WELL IN THE STAGE called WORLD.

Say we see the atrocities of RICH nations,we know that they are not correct. We still support them for the sake of grants, funds we get from them. This happens in every developing country and underdeveloped country.Whether the Rich fellow is correct or not we agree with them.Later again we speak about our ethics, friendships(Just as India does to Iran,It does'nt help in need ,whenUSA says against Iran)

Driving the point home.

Why is that an individual or nation does'nt react properly even if a reaction is necessary?

Are humans becoming so unemotional, unethical these days?

Is finacialstatus measure of courage in a person or nation?

People who react are termed to be emotional or foolish or impractical. Why do people act against their conscience even though its not necessary to act(where they can react).

Is our motto of life" ACT AS IF NOTHING SERIOUS HAS HAPPENED".

I will seggregate my post in two parts 1) individual level, 2) as a society / group of people / state / nation

At an individual level, we begin our lives and demand what we need on our terms. we speak our mind. heard of "children say the darnest things?" that is because they are not acting. I love to keep my house shiny clean at all times. I take pride in doing so, no matter how tired I come back from work. It is almost an obsession. My 3 year old nephew told me last week. " your patio is soo dirty! it requires some vacuuming" Who else would say something like this? He himself in few years won't say it. We do learn to ACT a certain way. Most of the times, it is accord with social norms and what is considered polite. In spite of not denying the importance of such learning, we have to accept the dishonest behaviour we teach ourselves. It is not lying, hurting, stealing, yet things we say many a times to be polite are half-truth, a partial dis-honest opinion.
Take example of this forum. In order to maintain its SANCTITY, we gulp in gazillion words and clad them in warm cushions before presenting. I am sure even mods would want to bash something at some point, but they must ACT WISELY and not allow WW to break out in here. So, sometimes we have to act a certain way.
People who want to help others, but just cannot due to the circumstances, those who only talk about helping others yet do nothing about it and those who don't even think about helping others are not always ACTING. It could just be the way they are. In fact, it is not necessary that those who help, really want to help- They could very well be acting. World is definitely a stage. We all are actors ON and OFF. Sometimes we show false pity, sometimes we show false happiness. Sometimes, we drown in self-pity and demand attention.
Usually, when we are sleeping, when we are sitting alone and speculating on life, when we are watching a child learning his first words / crawl / steps, we are not really acting. There are times when we are NOT ACTING. In my opinion, those of us, who can tap those moments and lead life similar to their behaviour during those moments could be bad actors, but better human beings.

Politics, social and economic elements driving the progress of a nation play a major role in the ACT of the nation. Why do we (USA) act as the big brother and send our troups every where there is trouble? Yes we are acting as a big brother. We are establishing our role as the super power. Is there more to that? In the mind of some polititians, may be, for some may be not!
Acting cannot be generalized. Leader of a group of people / society/ state / nation may have to put up an ESSENTIAL influential act that comes along with the job. Yet, a true leader can actually feel the sentiments and not be just an ACTOR.
I do not think that Swami Vivekananda was acting when he talked about the importance of education, upliftment of social status of women and upliftment of Indian society on the whole. I do not think Gandhiji was acting when he gave away his vast'ra to the woman in need. Sukhdev Rajguru BhagatSingh and multitudes of others were not acting when they embraced death in the name of their motherland. Their ACTS were nobel, their ACTING, non-existent.

World is a stage. Many of us are actors- some are good, & some are bad. Some don't ACT all the time, but their life and its challenges are so dramatic, that ther life seems like a fiction. All of us have to act every now and then, but we should never MISS THE OPPORTUNITY to KNOW WHO WE ARE when nobody is judging and nobody is watching, except GOD. There is always that little sink in the green room when the make up does come off and one can take a look at themselves in the mirror.
