While the Bakra ooops… Adi was being brought for sacrifice, Maan indulged in some light chats with the GUESTS… Neatly ignoring the three sharp arrow type gazes set on him… He could make out from his peripheral view that all three of them were waiting for some sort of explanation but currently he didn't want to offer any…

"Aaah!! Here comes our Jewel…" Maan exclaimed seeing a nervous fidgeting Adi dressed up in a white kurta pyjama entering the hall with the tray of tea and snacks…

The scene looked completely like the one in the daily soaps where the girl that is the prospective bride enters with the tea and all, to serve her prospective husband and his family, when they come to see her for the first time!! The only difference was that here the groom was the one behaving like a bride!!!

"Adi aise sharmaao mat… Won't you have a look at your BEAUTIFUL bride and the SMART-in-laws??" Maan asked Adi who seemed busy observing the pattern of the flooring while offering the tea to the nearby pillar!!

Adi slowly looked up while cursing himself... Only to get the shock of his life!! Seeing the TRIO, he nearly jumped out of his skin!! This was Maan Sir's selection?????

Seeing Adi's facial expression, Maan felt extremely satisfied as it proved that his plan was on the right track!! But at the same time he couldn't help but think about the day when his expressions mirrored Adi's!!!

PAST

Maan's brother VED had finally dared to ask Geet out for a date… No.. No.. A lunch… If he calls it a date, he would be dead meat!!!

There was something in her that had made Ved fall heads over heels in love with her especially after Maan's and her's numerous disastrous meetings someof which he had witnessed too!!! Though he clearly knew that Geet was different and not someone who would swoon over the prospect of becoming The Ved Singh Khurana's girlfriend, she would rather prefer to have a minced Ved for lunch if he got to know of his intentions!!

Ved gulped at the prospect!!! He was shivering looking at the ring in his hand… He could clearly see a big noose instead of the ring and him hanging on it while Geet… the jalladh… pulling the pulley while laughing like a witch!!!! Ved shuddered!!

"Nahi!! Nahi!! Ved bete… tere ko apni zindagi pyari nahi hai kya??? Tu aisa kuchh nahi karega… Pehle aaj taapmaan dekhtaa hoon… Phir sochoonga kya karna hai… haan yehi theek rahega!!!" Ved resolved while hiding the ring safely in his coat's inner pocket!!!

HALF an HOUR Later

Geet was busy murdering the muffin with the fork imagining her DATE in its place…

"Toh yeh tha unki date ka great idea???? Iss se achchha toh unse appointment le lethi kam se kam time par to aate…" Geet cribbed to herself…

Ved entered just then huffing and puffing as if running a marathon with an angry Maan following in tow… He looked at his brother's fuming date with the table in front of her was filled with at least 10 empty plates of muffins… Clearly telling him how late Ved was…

"Ved… Tu toh aaj gaya…" Ved closes his eyes and composed himself a little before appearing in front of his DEATH!!!

Geet had already seen him from her peripheral view but just ignored him as she clearly disapproved of the monkey, he had brought along…

"Am Sorry Geet… Wo na…" He tried to say something while gulping but stopped immediately seeing the angry red eyes!!!

He sighed and sat down while taking her hand in his, ignoring her feeble protests!! With his other hand he held his ear had cutely said "Sorry!!!" making Geet melt and nod her head… If one thing that she couldn't ignore was his puppy dog looks, it used to render her weaponless!!!

"Lets order something…" Maan offered trying to bring peace though he was not sure if she would be able to eat anything after having so many muffins, but he was in for a shock!!!

"Ummm…." Geet accepted…

Maan called the waiter to place the order…

"Ya… I would like a Martini and ya… crispy baby corn mushroom for starters…. And main course… Cottage cheese and broccoli tossed in barbecue sauce sizzler… Ummm what would you like Ved and uhhh… Geet??" Maan ordered for himself while looking in the menu card and asked Ved and Geet to order…

Ved too placed his order…

"Ummm… A lemonade…" Geet ordered unsure…

"Uhh Geet what about starters and main course????" Ved asked thinking that maybe she is already full…

"Wo can I order Chinese???"

"Of course you can order anything you want…" Maan offered politely, though he was wondering what was he doing here???…

"Okay!! So I want Chilly sauce vintage bread in starters, one plate paneer Manchurian, one plate vegetable basil sauce potato, one chilly garlic noodles, one American Choupsey and uhhh yaa… one schezuan sauce stir fried noodles…." Geet finished only to witness six wide eyes starting at her incredulously while three mouths hung open!!!

"What???" Geet asked seeing the incredulous expressions of Maan, Ved and the waiter…

"Nothing… Please get all this…" Maan spoke to the waiter who was looking at the already finished plates on the table and the girl in front of him alternatively… Ved had already recovered from the shock and he didn't want to offend Geet more than he already had!!!

"Umm so Geet tell me how's your college going on???" Ved asked trying to make small talk…

"Great!! You know we have this really interesting assignment…" Geet started and once she began there was no end… Maan cursed his brother for asking her such a question to this girl who spoke a mile a minute!!

Ved too sighed, not that he didn't like to hear her cute talks but today wanted to take a step further in their relationship… So he interrupted her…

"Geet wo mujhe tumse kuchh kehna tha… nahi puchhna tha… wo…" He fumbled…

"Wait! Wait! Wait!! Are you trying to say what I am thinking???" Geet narrowed her eyes looking at him…

Abb bichara Ved! How would he know what Geet was thinking??? Even Maan was puzzled at this reply…

"Yess… I mean No… Yes??? What are you…" Ved tried to formulate his reply cautiously but was awarded with Geet's immediate answer….

"NO!!!"

"No??? But why???" Poor Ved was heart broken!!!

"I am doing this for your own benefit only!!" Geet declared!!

Maan just drank his Martini that had arrived by then enjoying this cat and mouse show!!! Ved drank his Bellini to drown his pain with alcohol, sigh!!! But unfortunately Bellini contained only 12% alchohol!!!

"Yes!!! I can't sleep with you…" Geet replied haughtily making Maan splutter his drin while Ved to choke in shock!!!

"SLEEEPPP????" Maan screamed, making all heads turn towards them!!!

"yes…. You see the last guy I slept with had an STD and apparently I caught on that so I cant sleep with you and risk sleeping with you… You know your brother would not be very pleased if you died of an STD… It would be a shame to the KHURANA's image!!!" Geet finished while Maan looked ather like a Zombie!!!

Poor Ved had already fainted by then!!!
