Shah Rukh, Amitabh 'cold war' : Is it for real?

One question that begs to be asked is whether the much-written-about 'cold war' between Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan for real?
There is no smoke without fire, it is said. But sometimes the smoke itself may be a figment of some people's imagination. Since last few months much has been written about the growing cold vibes between Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan.
First, it was Shah Rukh's refusal to attend the IIFA (of which Big B is brand ambassador) in Dubai last year. Then SRK began endorsing the same products as Bachchan. And then at the year's fag end he took over the KBC mantle from Bachchan.
Now the talk of the so-called war has been fuelled further because the Bachchans did not attend Shah Rukh's New Year party despite an invitation by King Khan.
While it is possible to read much in these small incidents, they themselves for sure do not give any irrefutable sign of war between the two stars.
SRK has time and again denied any such tiff with the Bachchans. At the time of IIFA, he explained that he could not attend the event because he had to go on a vacation in London with his wife and kids. As for KBC 3, it was Star Plus that approached SRK with an offer for a two-year contract for the show. SRK's acceptance of the offer should not be read as his intention of dismantling Mr. Bachchan from the position.
And lastly, the Bachchans did not go to SRK's New Year's party because Amitabh's mother Teji Bachchan is in hospital. In fact, on the evening of 31st December, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai paid a visit to Teji Bachchan in the Lilavati hospital. Later, the Bachchans ushered in the New Year with a low-key gathering of family members.
Shah Rukh has clearly said in his interviews that he has "nothing but utmost respect for Mr. Bachchan" and that there is "no friction" between him and the superstar.
Perhaps, the 'cold war' is just a figment of imagination.
