what the hell is wrong with rishi?
bechara swayam...he hoped that though he did not want it...but still his father came to see him dance.
and look how bluntly, unfeelingly he says---taani ke liye aaya tha; make sure she wins.
the poor guy just swallowed his pain at the words and took pains to get his inconvenient- at- the -moment- dad out of the place.
but guys can there have been another side of the coin?
i mean rishi took pains to become a part of taani's assignment? or in reality was it to get to indirectly watch his son perform? i mean...he may be an unfit father, but i think maybe somewhere he lavishes love on taani so much...and spends time with rey----becoz swayam wont ; to fill swayam's gap.
he left when swaym asked him to...becoz swayam said he wud be uncomfortable. but if he really did not care about his son, would he have left---i mean he could still have stayed and been part of his niece's assignment.anybody wud be hurt if their son asked them to leave.
he said---agar mai gya toh jeetne ki guarantee doge? maybe he despises dance and his son for choosing a career which he feels is uncertain(face it--there is no guarntee that these guys will make it; and any parent wud prefer his/her child to make his career which wud let them stand on their own feet and succeed fast...with least struggle. dance is a field where struggle is inevitable for young artists and recognition may come late.)
a man who does not know much about this field wud automatically wish his only child to succeed somewhere else. a dancer might support a child whpoleheartedly in a dance career...but a man like rishi? no. not easily
he is a lot like swayam actually---cant voice his feelings well--cant say that he wishes that swaym and he could connect better. his hard side is what comes to the forefront because he does not approve of his dancer son. and he wishes swayam was like rey or taani with whom he can easily connect---but when two people are very alike they cant connect well.
and he thinks swayam does not love him anymore...just as swyam thinks his dad does not love him.
our parents have dreams for us too...and all of them cant adjust well to the fact that we may do something they dont trust in or approve of. but they cant hate us...they cant wish us to fail.
i feel just the distance which has been created between swayam and his dad is what they cant bridge misunderstandings. both have sort of given up on hoping love from the other.
but he still says--make sure she wins is it--make sure you win if i leave??? in brackets??
he mentions to rey--that he would like to do a lot for his boy---but his son is happy in little things. he feels left out of his son's life, i'm sure. he supported swayam when the team did not get their due payment.
he scolds swayam in front of his friends not realising that his son is hurt even more---but he does it becoz swayam wont listen to him anywhere private--he would avoid him provably.
the character is flawed becoz he does not understand his son---and his rather old school conservative mindset doesw not allow him to connect to his rather dyanamic career making son.
he resents it---but a lot of parents may behave like that with their children, but the fact remains that they still peek from behind to clap when the child prospers. it is they who clip the newspaper cuttings of their prodigal child.
ITS JUST THAT I DONT THINK ANY PARENT CUD REALLY NOT CARE LIKE THAT ...I THINK AA MAN WHO IS SO SOFT AND CARING TO HIS NIECE CANT POSSIBLY BE SO UNFEELING FOR HIS SON.he is afraid of thius unknown field of dance, afraid fore his son, disapproves, argues...and both being headstrong have grown apart. and neither in their own rigidity can bridge the gap.
i am not defending his bad fatherly approach, but parents are seldom villains you know.
