Chapter 5
Meera was comfortably nested in Prithvi's arms as he carried her to her car. All was well for some time as silence filled the air. Meera preferred to stay silent and Prithvi chose the same.
It was after a few minutes, small sparks of doubt began to develop in Meera's head.
Is he really the one?
Prithvi looked at her trying to tell her they were there. Her car stood ahead of them with Prithvi's jeep a few metres away from her car.
"Get me down," Meera coldly said.
Those sparks of doubt had increased considerably.
How do I know more about him?
I am such an idiot.
Standing in the middle of road in rain washed surrounding at midnight with a guy who looks like the one I see in dreams. Great! God I hate you!
Prithvi put her down. Meera cringed as the pain shot up to her brain when her whole weight came on her injured foot. Prithvi rushed forward to hold her.
Meera shrugged off his hand holding her arm saying,
"I am alright"
Prithvi stepped back. Earlier, he was quite surprised to see a girl at such a place . He had stood there aghast after he saw her face. She resembled...
His thoughts were cut short when Meera spoke with utter calmness and tranquility about her.
"Thank you very much for saving my life. I need to reach Barahgaon as soon as I
can. Can you tell me the way." she paused a bit. "Oh sorry, my car broke down. Give me a lift to the village. You yourself seems to be a village guy." she spoke nonchalantly.
Prithvi gazed at her.
This girl looks spooky. Is she really human?
Prithvi thought for a moment before speaking.
" Fine. I would have dropped you to Barahgaon. But we have a little problem here." he smirked.
Shit! Whats with that grinning?! I'll kill him if he tries to even touch me.
"Don't even think of anything stupid." Prithvi said.
Is he reading my mind??
Fear filled her already numb senses.
"The road to Barahgaon is dangerous in normal days. It would be feasible to travel in daylight." Prithvi continued.
"Why not now!!! "
"Are you dumb? Rains." he replied, clearly annoyed. This girl was really getting on his nerves.
Inner Meera was boiling with anger, blood bubbling.
THIS GUY...
"You said you car is broken. Let me see it."
"Yeah, sure."
Meera had no other words to say. She stared at the guy as he opened the bonnet of the car. Rain had stopped now and she was all drenched. She knew she would catch a cold. She couldn't believe herself. All weird things had to happen to her.
My man of dreams is a mechanic too! Perfect!
She let out a huge sigh.
Did I really think about the start of new beginning? I have really lost my brains. There is an urgent need to reconsider my thoughts.
With Prithvi busy, she had some time to while away.
I have to know if he is the same guy. But how?
Prithvi walked to her.
"Start your car."
Seeing incomprehensible face and impenetrable eyes of him made her shudder.
"Y-yes"
"Wait. You won't be able to drive. You are hurt."
"I am fine. Lets go."
"No you are not."
"By the way, where are we going? You said the roads are bad"
Prithvi slapped his forehead. She was being incoherent.
"I stay nearby. You have to treat your wounds," he pointed at her foot. "Then you can go to Barahgaon as and when you like."
"Fine"
"Follow me," Prithvi ordered on a stern voice.
After an eternity of driving and enduring pain, she saw his Jeep slow down before a...
Hut??!!
Meera stared as her own car came to a stop. In front of her was a small house, a cattle shed on the side and a big porch. Prithvi motioned her to come inside through the small wooden door.
Meera hauled her belongings from the car and proceeded inside. She gasped at the simplicity of the house.
The living room contained a khatiya, a small writing table and an old wooden almirah on the side of the wall. Kitchen was on the right side.
There were practically no luxuries and with bare minimum facilities she had to stay in a place full of mosquitoes and flees.
"Great." Meera muttered sarcastically.
Meera dropped her bag on the floor in exhaustion when suddenly her phone rang.
Prithvi stood just a few steps away from her folding his hands.
DAD! Oh no!
"Hello dad" Meera tried her best to sound normal.
Ramdhari was very worried her daughter had not reached the village and it was raining heavily.
"Miu, where are you? You should have reached here by now."
"I know dad. Actually I started from delhi qiute late. And the rains..."
"Oh dear! Where are you know? You know the rains haven't stopped. Stay at..."
"Dad, I am staying at a hotel for the night. It is difficult to drive at night in rains."
Meera looked at Prithvi and continued. "Its a very posh hotel dad, with all amenities and facilities." She sneered at Prithvi.
"OK, bye dad. See you tomorrow."
Before her father could ask her anything about the hotel, she cut the call and looked at him. Prithvi very well understood she was mocking him, but he could do nothing.
Meera was about to laugh loudly when the world around her started spinning and darkness engulfed her.
