Muslim Weddings: show vs. reality

Ok, so I have seen a lot of comments and posts of people bashing and making bad comments about Muslim weddings. And I just wanted to make it clear that this is just a show. Nothing they show in the show is actually what happens at Muslim wedding. You guys have to remember that the setting of the story is in India. And just because they show Muslim weddings like does not actually mean that this is how they actually are. Being a Muslim, I have been to plenty of weddings. And many of the rituals and traditions in the show, I have never seen or heard of. The groom doesn't go to the wedding hall alone, the whole family goes together. They showed Asad leaving alone because they had to have the tanveer track and obviously, they couldn't think of any other way. And also, the bride and groom can't see each other until after having said "qubool hai". Muslims live in different parts of the world, and they have different ways of going about the ceremony. So just because you see something like today's episode, doesn't mean all Muslim weddings are bad. Or our culture is. I know today's epsipde upset many of you and believe me, I'm disgusted too, but all this harsh commentary about a religion is just too much. The show is far from reality. And please don't take your anger out by blaming a religion or culture. And I don't just mean Muslim culture/ religion. Don't blame a culture or religion based on a fiction show. EVER.

Sorry if this post upset anyone :( I just wanted to make my voice be heard.

:( Hi. I totally agree. There was stuff shown today which totally was NOT islamic. For example- when someone took money and done the 'removing the evil eye' thing to Zoya (Dunno what its called and forgot who done it due to all the Asad and Tanveer tension lol)- something Muslims would NEVER do and it would be considered a sin/ equivalent to shirk. The imaams (priests) present at the wedding would've disapproved of that in a real Muslim wedding. :) This is a fictional show and not at all reflects Muslim culture :)

i keep telling people knowing is this show is of muslim nature or has any islamic or sunnah or quranic practices, except proabably some of the name of the characters.. but with showing all this crap people will obviously get the wrong concept. and islam has nothing to do with the cultures of a country or place, true islam stems from the authentic practices of Prophet Muhammad ( peace be upon him) and the strict adherence to the laws dictated by the words of Allah Ta'ala in the noble Qur'an.. and that is the siimple truth... there are no 'buts' or 'if''... gul just cut your crap now.

Yup, the things they show in this show aren't related to Islam in some ways. I just hope people don't assume that everything that happens in this show is allowed in Islam. As a muslim even i feel some things they show are wrong. 😆 i just hope people don't take a wrong message. 😳

Unfortunately, people believe what they see. And it's not in our control to show the right things. It's sad that they have shown Islam, such a beautiful religion, as a disgusting religion. As a Muslim, it's just sickening to see this.

@bold: Honestly, I think people believe what they want to believe. Indian soap operas have been going on for long enough for people to know that half actually most of the stuff shown in them isn't true yet if someone wants to make judgments based on the knowledge attained from these daily soaps, they either have a confirmation bias or they're just well..not that bright.

Actually Many Muslims do that...but in a different way...means less to the Saath phere on the head of someone...😆

The way of doing that was somehow wrong...But in the end Its as same "Sadka" and "Zakat"...IF and till the money goes to someone in need...and not to the people who sang Qawalis...as it was shown in todays episode...

Many people sacrifice even goats and give it to people in need as "Sadka" of the people they love...Many Mothers of groom and bride do that for their son/daughter...So if its Sadka its not Sin...

And Shirk...?? Shirk is when we give the respect to someone, when we love them and that love and respect is equal to the love and respect we have for Allah...worshiping someone as a Allah is considered Shirk...and even if you dont consider that act as Sadka...Its is not a Shirk for sure...

And Imaams would have also disapproved that Qawalis that were being sang in the wedding...

So all in all its nothing like real weddings...
