A sari scene: Daljeet Kaur with Seema Bhargav

Seema Bhargav, aka Padmadevi of Kulvaddhu, was in trouble recently when her sari caught fire while she was shooting. Had it not been for Anup Upadhaya, aka SMS in the show, who rushed to her help, the actress would have been severely injured.

Seema recalls, "It was a party sequence and there were diyas all around as part of the decoration. I was standing with other actors, when suddenly I sniffed smoke. Turning around, I realised that the border of my sari had caught fire. I was petrified. But Anup rushed to my help and put out the fire. However, my sari was damaged completely."

She adds, "I was really touched by the concern of my co-stars and unit members," she added.

Daljeet Kaur aka Niyati, the kulvaddhu, said, "We were really taken aback when we saw Seemaji's sari was in fire. Thankfully, Anup put out the fire with his hand in no time. I went numb with fear."

There was complete chaos on the sets following the incident. The diyas and candles were extinguished and the scene was changed completely. "After all, the safety of the cast is more important. In the scene, we all were wearing heavy and flowing costumes, which could have easily caught fire. So the scene was completed without diyas," Daljeet added. The hero of the event, Anup Upadhaya, said, "My hands got slightly burnt in the process, but the wounds will heal soon. I feel happy that I could be of some help."
