second part
The night passed quickly. It was next morning and Niharika was in Rudra's room, trying to find some reports that she had made done when she was married to rudra but their was no luck.
Rudra turned the handle of his bedroom door and walked into it. The sight before nearly made him drop the mug of tea he was carrying. He quickly averted his gaze β which took all his willpower β as Niharika hastily put the papers back to the cupboard that she was holding onto tight.
Rudra: sorry, I should've knocked but thought you might be asleep
Niharika: (blushing slightly) no harm done. Just looking for something that's all
Why did I have to say that? Niharika cringed as she felt her heat rush to her face. She cannot tell him, if she does that he will make fuss and then he will know that shivam has taken her to hospital which will be not pleasant
Rudra smiled, he had seen it all before. When they were actually together, and in his thoughts when right now they were not in the terms of talking. He still thought about her, mostly when he was alone, he thought of her. Who was he kidding? He thought of her every single minute of the day and then every second of the night. When he see her sleeping next to him and the first thing when he wakes up she was always with him
At night it was even worse, at least during the day he could busy himself with this and that, things that needed doing around the house or the office, but at night β that was a whole different story! he wanted to feel her next to him but she distanced herself even more so he decided that in time he would make her closer to him like she was before
Every night he would lay awake in the darkness, long after she had gone to sleep, after everyone else in the house had fallen into a deep slumber. And he would just lie there, thinking. About her. Everything he remembered about her, everything he knew about her, so that he would never forget. Not that he was ever likely to forget.
He'd once told her that he'd just lie awake at night, thinking to himself what she would do if he just crept into her room and lay down next to her. Probably tell him he was taking up too much space and make him sleep on the floor! But he wouldn't mind, as long as he was close to her, he didn't care. He would go anywhere she asked him to; give her everything he could and then some.
Involuntarily, he felt his eyes move up and down her body. Her perfect curves ever more perfect now.
Rudra bit the inside of his cheek, trying to distract himself form the vision that stood in front of him. Only a thin piece of material covering her body. He tried not to think about pulling the sari from her skin, just letting it slip from her, unveiling a work of art.
Rudra: erm, I erm, brought you up a cuppa thought you might need it as you were not feeling that well yesterday
Niharika: (as she took the mug from Dennis' hand) thanks
Niharika gestured to the bed, and Rudra sat down
Niharika: I, erm was just looking for some old stuff that we had anyways hat time did you come last night?
Rudra: don't know, probably around midnight you were asleep in shivam's room and he was sleeping on the couch so i picked you up and brought you here.
Niharika: oh i thought i was in here
Rudra: yer maybe you were not feeling that well that's why
Niharika: so, what do you plan on doing today?
Rudra: don't know, probably go down the office for a while, just the usual, y'know. You?
Niharika: I might go shopping
Rudra: again? Didn't you just go a week ago?
Niharika: yeah, but you forget that i need to shop everyday and anyway i don't only shop for myself........
Rudra: .... you also shop for the whole family and most of all me i know
Niharika: then why ask?
Rudra: I need to know the budget come on the next thing i know i am bankrupt
Niharika: well, yeah, but you should have knew it better then marry me in the first place
Rudra: shut up, i wouldn't have changed you at all
Niharika blushed again. She remembered the first time he had said that to her. It was right after they had decided to get marry, when the whole family had said no.
Niharika looked away, she had started thinking about that first night, and even though she knew Rudra couldn't read her thoughts, she still felt slightly embarrassed for thinking about it. Their night of passion and lust, and most importantly feelings.
That's what it had been. They had physically needed each other, like air. It was the best moment she had, but then she had shivam in her life and to tell the truth she needed him the most. Rudra was just the air that she needed but shivam was her breath without him she will die
Rudra noticed this
Rudra: what?
Niharika: nothing
Rudra: no, what?
Niharika: just thinking
Rudra: about?
Niharika: the night when you separated from me and.....
Rudra: you're no what i know that it wasn't the best night but i got you back haven't i? we should be grateful to antrakshish
Niharika: yeah, sure (sarcastic way)
Rudra: no, I mean it
Niharika: (smiling) yeah?
Rudra: yeah, Anyway i am here to stop you wasting too much money after all i am the eldest in this house so its my duty to see that ' women' in this house don't spend too much money in this sari stuff
Niharika: I doubt that, you see we 'women' can never be stopped if we want to do something
Rudra: well, okay, when you're not looking
Niharika: maybe
Rudra: definitely
Niharika: yeah, until you hit 13! Till then you won't be able to do anything
Rudra: well, that's how you see your gorgeous husband i bet you their will be around million girls ready to give their hearts on my after all i am the heart throb and cool
Niharika smiled at him again, he hadn't said anything about last night.
Niharika: you? Cool? Handsome? Heartthrob? By the time Krishna speaks you'll be needing a walking stick and i advice you check the mirror i am sure it can tell
Rudra: now, now Papa not here to hear you making fun of him anyway if i do ask the mirror then i bet you it will say that you already found the most gorgeous person so no need to know
They laughed together, the tension between them dispelled. Maybe she could tell him about Shivam. He seemed happy enough to help Shivam, what was the difference if she just gave him a reason?
Niharika: Rudra i wanted to talk to you
Rudra: yeah sure shoot
Niharika: actually after you went away and i thought you were dead i... papa.... titli mami......
Kaajol: Rudra bhaiya the breakfast is ready
Niharika looked at her and watched rudra go out of the room another miss to tell him the truth
***********
It was extremely late at night when Rudra and Shivam finally came through the front door of the house. Shivam and Rudra had gotten talking about meeting in the office that had happened and they'd just lost track of time. Rudra knew that Shivam had been jealous when he had told him that he was having dinner with Niharika, but why should he be? He was the one that was having a relationship with Niharika. He was the one playing happy families, so why shouldn't he try to move on?
Shivam looked at rudra he had made the choice of allowing Niharika to stay with rudra until rudra remembers everything, and now he has to deal with the aftermath!
Niharika was asleep on the sofa in the living room (she had been waiting up for Shivam and Rudra to return, not that she would ever admit it). She had fallen asleep thinking about Shivam, as per usual. In fact, she had been thinking about Shivam and Rudra. Rudra hated Shivam, the tension that nothing happens between them, but a part of her would always knew that shivam would never do anything that hurt rudra because he knew if something happen to rudra then Niharika would also feel the pain. That's the reason why she is with shivam today he loves her like no-one has ever loved her
Shivam was always jealous of Rudra because he had her. he could kiss her and hold her hand in public without any disapproving stares or looks. They could hold her in their arms every night as they slept and wake up to her beautiful face in the morning. Yes, Shivam was jealous of Rudra Raizada.
Niharika suddenly awoke with a start when she heard the front door close shut. Her breathing ragged and cold beads of sweat had formed on her forehead and were mingling with the tears on her cheeks.
It was just a dream. Just a dream, Niharika. Then why couldn't she shake these feelings? Her heart was in her throat, beating rapidly inside her. She took a deep breath and turned to look at the figure in the doorway.
Rudra: Niharika? What are you doing down here?
Niharika: I erm, Krishna, didn't want to wake him
Shivam: are you okay?
Niharika: yeah, erm, fine
Shivam: no you're not.
He sat down next to her, and put a cool hand on the back of her neck, trying to soothe her. His mere presence made Rudra's heart beat slower and irrupted the tendrils of fear that had wrapped them around his throat, choking him.
Shivam: (sympathetically) what happened? Did you have the same dream again?
Niharika: no, nothing likes that. Well, I did, but that hasn't got anything to do with it.
Shivam: you sure?
Niharika: yeah
Sharon: what did you see?
Niharika: nothing same old thing that's all
Shivam: (her heart suddenly jumped into her throat he could see that) the accident scene with me and you
Niharika: no.
Shivam: do not lie Niharika. You did not look okay, i am fine and so are you. I am here look healthy Punjabi munda nothing is going to make you stay away from me i love you.....
Niharika could sense Rudra's pain, and then the uncomfortable tension that seemed to settle between them, something they had grown accustomed to, or had to seeing as that's generally where their conversations ended or started. She could see the tears escaping his eyes as he approached shaken with what the conversation had laid between his wife and this stranger.
He decided to change the subject, even if it meant it left him feeling bare and pain.
Rudra: It was just a dream... i think that you need some rest Niharika come
Shivam: and it's got her shaking like a leaf? i think you need to tell us what happened why? This is not the first time Niharika you get it every night i have seen you crying... Shaking
Realisation dawned on Shivam; he knew what she was dreaming about, what she was terrified of. His face filled with emotion, but it wasn't sympathy or pity. It was pain, for her.
Shivam: Niharika!
He took her head and laid it on his shoulder as he ran her hands up and down her back, trying to take away all the fear she felt. His own tears making damp patches in her hair.
Only he could help her through this, because he was the only person she ever let in. she let her comfort him just by letting her cry. He didn't try to make it all better, or even try to get her to talk about it. He knew because he could see into her soul. See the open wounds that nobody else could. And somehow, he lessened the pain.
