Wouldn't it be the best way to prevent him from being hurt? Swayam has closed himself from within. He is deeply hurt n broken n doesn't want to take a chance again. If he would have followed his heart then remember the day before d trial confession? He was dejected wen Sharon told him dat she prefers wid d book being shut. Wat happened after dat was different but d hurt inflicted by her at that point of time still remains within him. Also she told him he's a stress in her life. Swayam always knew Sharon liked bim but he doesn't want to think about her loving him NOW at this stage coz he just doesn't want to..
This was wat I derived from Swayam being indifferent to Sharon. Yes he is a great true lover n yes he still loves her but even he is human. As he said earlier he cannot be switched on or off according to her mood. Rey giving him a hint was needed. But I agree d scene could've been better wid Swayam giving some understandable expressions. Nevertheless I enjoyed tonight's episode :)

I guess I get what you are saying when he is feeling too weak to think about even asking her. But then it will be better for him if he just confronts her. I guess Swayam DOES have a lot on his mind.
