| Taking off to get married! Amit Tandon to get married on 6 January, on leave from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, starting today. Amit Tandon, Manthan of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is getting married on the 6 January. And so he's taking chutti from today. But guess what? His bosses at Kyunki have no idea about his plans at all. In fact, he will be meeting Ekta Kapoor today to tell her of his plans. Gutsy guy... "I'm going on a month's leave. But I haven't spoken to anybody from the serial about leave. I'm going to speak to Ekta today. I'm taking leave for my wedding from today (21st December)." So who is this wonderful woman for whom he is willing to risk the bosses' wrath? "I met her in New York six months back and I fell in love with her. She is from Chicago and she is a doctor. The wedding will be in New York." What will he be wearing for the wedding? "I'm wearing a sherwani, and an Indo-Western suit for the reception. I have bought a diamond ring for her. I'm doing all the shopping in Mumbai. It is still undecided whether she is going to settle in India or whether I'll be the one going back and forth." What is the planning post marriage? "Well I enjoy both acting as well as singing. I would also like to enter into Bollywood if such an opportunity comes my way. I love acting, but in this television industry you barely get time to do other things. However I'm happy with my packages. Acting is challenging and I believe in challenges." Prior to Kyunki..., Amit had acted in another Balaji serial Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai. But his original love was singing-he was first seen on TV as a contestant in Indian Idol. His looks won him his first role. But the buzz is that he will soon be cutting an album too. Does that mean that he will quit the serial? "No I'm not quitting the serial neither for my marriage nor for launching my album. I am launching my album in June next year and I think I can manage with my shooting schedule as well as my singing." But will Balaji let his track run considering he hasn't given them enough time to work on a separate track that does not have him? "From my side I'm not quitting the serial, however I have no idea about the creative people's decision. They can't sideline my role as my role is one of the main roles." Well, that's typical 'Manthan' confidence for you. Manthan's role in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi... Manthan is Tulsi's (Smriti Irani) grandson. He is Tanya (Rakshanda Khan) and Karan's (Hiten Tejwani) son. He loves and cares for his stepsister Bhoomi (Reshmi Ghosh)-the daughter of Ansh (Aakashdeep Sahgal ) and Nandini (Gauri Pradhan), who has been raised by Tanya and Karan. His role primarily revolves around his relationship with his parents, sister and cousins. The other TV couples likely to tie the knot in 2007 Iqbal Khan and Neha Bahktiyaar Irani and Tenaaz Lal Shveta Salve and Ronny Barnes Tina Parakh and Vikram Hazra.
