Kanyakumari I think you would have read Jaya Aunty's posts. SO she has to kill Banasura when she is unmarried, but Parvati is about to marry Shiva, and the timing is before dawn. To prevent the marriage Narada becomes a cock ans crows. Shiva thinks it is dawn (or knows Narada's mischief) and leaves the wedding. Parvati gets angry, and she kills Banasura. But she still waits as a Kanya Kumari in Kanyakumari temple.

Andhakasura was born from SHiva's sweat. He was blind, but later he got sight, and he saw Parvati. He had a boon that if he lusts after his mom he will die. And Parvati is like a mother to him. SO Lord Shiva fights him, and all his sins get destroyed. But he hangs for a long time on SHiva's Trishul, and later becomes one of his ganas.

Durgam had asked Brahma for being the guardian of the Vedas. But instead he kept the Vedas to himself. SO Devi came as Dasa Mahavidyas and after killing him, returned the Vedas. SO she is called Durga.
