I am unfortunately put off by this wonderful show now thanks to the current theme that is happening in it. I went through something similar situation as Kumud and Saras in real life but I came away better thenm they are!! My wife (who was only my fiance for up to 8 months before we got married) asked me on the particular night after I proposed (where, just like Saras, a true lover boy, I wanted to "get closer" if you know what I mean) she asked me if we could wait till after marriage to consummate our relationship and I respected her wishes and waited.
Kumud could've said no, but Saras also should have had some akal and realised that a traditional Indian girl would not be ready to go any further before marriage, her chaste is a virtue that she holds dear (I'm an NRI and I know that much for a fact at least, my wife is also from a traditionally conservative family).
Sad because this was the first indian serial I was enjoying with the wife, now we will be switching back to football highlights. I guess my main point is that yes, both are too blame here, but Saras should've also known what the "limits" were and he would've been at least aware that someone as traditional as Kumud and her family background would largely frown upon love making before marriage.
