Male centric tv shows are bound to stay!

To showcase the strength of women or to portray women oriented roles, the dominance of social issues by way of male dominance, will have to shown. In fact, some serials showcase male dominance, especially against the backdrop of orthodox and social stigma rules, prevalent in the society.

Many shows in the past have raked in strong audience response owing to such male dominance and still continue to do so. For instance, 'Na aana is des meri laado' is a show which began with the issue of female infanticide, further showcasing the importance of being a woman in the society.

Similarly, shows like 'Balika Vadhu', depict the issues of girl child education and re-marriages, which still are considered a taboo in the interiors like the villages of Rajasthan, where male dominance is well pronounced.

The recent show on star plus 'Ek Ghar Banaunga' is all about a girl fulfilling her obligatiosn towards her parents, even after marriage. Our society, being male centric, doesn't cherish such ideas. However, the show, against the backdrop of such eroded moral values, will showcase the status quo of a girl and her responsibilities towards her parents after marriage.

Most of the shows today are woman oriented shows, which thrive well against the backdrop of male dominance. Whether it's about gender discrimination or the status quo issues of females in the society, all have to be showcased, against the typical orthodox mindset of a male dominated society. Hence, the popularity of such shows are likely to go up only when well set against the backdrop of male centric societies or issues.
