CE trailer out June 7th with YPD2

This Friday, when you step out to watch Ranbir-Deepika's Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani at a theatre near you, be prepared for a freebie - the promo of Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai - Again. This move to attach the trailer of the Balaji film to that of the UTV-Dharma production has created quite a stir in the industry.

It was only the other day that UTV had mounted its offensive against the Milan Luthria film, which is releasing on the same day as SRK-starrer Chennai Express, August 8. For inexplicable reasons the production house has chosen not to promote the biggest film in its stable, but that of its competitor's. How's that?

Sources close to the development say UTV(who are distributing YJHD) had no say in the matter. "It was Karan Johar who took the call (emphatically told all theatres that he wants Once Upon A Time promos to be attached to Yeh Jawaani...)," said a source close to the developments.

Distributor Raju Wasani remarked, tongue firmly in cheek: "This is like 'fight at lunch and have dinner together'." His views were shared by the owner of Maratha Mandir - Gaiety-Galaxy, Man oj Desai. There is considerable nudge-nudge wink-wink about why KJo chose not to promote SRK's film alongside his biggest release of the year. Said Desai, "That he has given poreference to Ekta Kapoor over SRK indicates changing equations," said Desai. When contacted, Balaji CEO Tanuj Garg said, "We requested Karan's company Dharma Productions and they consented. We will reciprocate."

SRK has attached the trailer of Chennai Express to Dharam-Sunny-Bobby starrer Yamla Pagla Deewana 2, releasing on June 7. A source close to director Rohit Shetty said, "Yeh Jawaani is a very urban film.
