Hey guys,
Haven't written anything in ages but I came across the supposed bold and steamy scenes that will occur in the upcoming episodes between Samud posts and I decided to give my opinion on the matter. (This is purely my opinion and I do not mean to offend anyone for my views so apologies in advance).
Ok so there is a lot of talk of whether it's sending the right message by showing premarital sex on the show which centreds around pure and innocent love. I personally don't believe in premarital sex and I have my reasons but I don't feel that showing premarital sex is going to be sending a wrong message. I believe that sex is the ultimate expression of intimacy between two people who love one another and if they both feel that they're ready to consummate their relationship then they should allowed to do it. Saras and Kumud in my opinion have accepted each other as being that partner who they want to share that level of intimacy with and so showing premarital sex between them won't destroy that pure and innocent love that they share.
There are plenty of people in the world who decide to have sex before marriage because they feel comfortable with their partner but that doesn't mean that their love isn't pure or innocent. It's a matter of choice which two consenting adults should have. Tbh, I'd applaud the CVs if they decided to show premarital sex between Samud because they would be representing the other side and often the most common case among couples these days. In Hindi films, there are so many racy sex scenes and bold item numbers where the characters don't have any deep emotional connection with another is accepted by the Indian audience but as soon as TV shows want to show sweet and emotional consummation of characters onscreen, there's all this controversy?
Like I said, this is purely my view on this but I feel that we have to be progressive in what we show on TV and not be so conservative in denying that all human beings have a choice in how they conduct their relationships with other people. This reminds me of the time of Arshi's love scene where there were people for and against their consummation but I felt that scene was wonderful because it showed Khushi allowing Arnav to make love to her because she trusted his love.
Premarital sex doesn't have to have a negative message. It can show that there are two people who decide that their love and the faith in their love is stronger than the constraints of the social conventions placed on them. It is ultimately Saras and Kumud's choice (haha even though they are fictional).
Sorry for the long post but yeah I hope you see where I'm coming from here. Do leave your thoughts below :)
Thanks,
Shegufta xx
