Episode 279 Discussion: 23rd May 2013

Welcome to the Episode discussion thread which we call as Viewer's and Reader's Respite. That's very apt, don't you think ? 😉. And that proves our objective.

Objective behind the thread is

It helps in keeping the forum clean without much litter. People just need to fall in a habit.
We can have it like breathers at first followed by analysis.
It also helps like-minded souls and pals bond and gel together to drop in their thoughts for themselves as breathers and for their friends as a peep into the episode and for others to post their reviews.
And those from different time-zones, who do not get to watch the episode at this time of telecast (Indian 8:30 PM), without any worry to trace or keep track of all their buddy's posts, they can come here, read with leisure and later post their analysis after watching it from their Time zones.

Note for Newcomers to this thread.

Extremist thoughts and moralizing thoughts are not welcome over this thread. It is entertainment show we are watching. The channel calls their programs as entertainment and we are watching the show. Discussions are welcome in light hearted and in realistic manner. Moral policing is not appreciated. We do not want to feel stifled into that kind of atmosphere here.

There are several other social welfare sites that are there to discuss the genuine issues. If for some reason, it is felt that social concerns have to be addressed and ethical and moral responsibility needs to be exercised for watching entertainment, then; certainly the forum is an open place to create separate ATs and build up that kind of propaganda.

Please heed to this as direct request and conditional requirement to participate in this thread. Strong words such as psychopaths unless used in show, need not be used to instigate riotous atmosphere or start sermonizing.

POINTERS for Writing/Posting of your reviews and thoughts over this EDT

Do not litter the thread with chit-chat conversations. A little is permitted to have the friendly atmosphere, but when you feel like chatting more, it is desired you take your conversation with your buddies to alternate venues like chat clubs, pm mode etc.
Quoting Policy: It is desired that people refrain from single, double, triple and multiple quoting of posts on a repetitive basis. They can pick out the parts that they like to quote as opposed to quoting the entire post. It is often seen that we have to scroll through the pages when all they have done is quoting and more quoting with one line response to the actual post. IF has a rule that more than three times quoting is not allowed. But nowadays as people read IF posts over phone, it is preferred that people do not quote longer posts and just extract the portions of the post that they like to respond to and if they still find it relevant to their thought process then get the entire quoted text.
Regulate the font size. Keep remembering that. It is really not pleasing to see big bolded letters for no special reason.
The thread becomes a mess when you give your review and do not REST for sometime until others have posted. Please understand, respites or reviews; once or twice are good for few pages...don't make a regular chat thread with your reiterating/whining/complaining on the same point. For the online readers, the thread becomes unpleasant read. There is a separate Complaints thread in Main Forum.
When episodic content is emotional, take a deep breath, give a good lengthy review; that acts as your vent in one single post...and make an exit to calm down your nerves if you still are possessed by only what you've seen.

Episode 279 Discussion - EOD Summary

Madhu to keep Padmini in the dark about her decision to drop RK revenge plan ; RK's romantic gesture to Madhu - Hum, Tum aur Bath Tub.

Events Of The Episode

1. Night time in RK mansion. Madhu remembers her decision to not break RK's heart. She lovingly gazes at sleeping RK and caresses his face. She dreams that she has gone to chawl to inform Padmini about dropping her revenge plan. Padmini is relieved however angry again as Madhu tells her decision about marrying RK without exacting any revenge. She invites Padmini for mehendi ceremony. Padmini is livid and without listening to Madhu's pleas, she locks her up in the house. Madhu wakes up from this nightmare sweating and decides not to tell Padmini her change of heart about revenging RK. She prays to Bappa to support her decision and her belief that RK has indeed changed for the better. In other part of the house, Sikki informs Dipali about chawlbala's mehendi ceremony and offers her tea. Dipali is annoyed.

2. In RK's bedroom, Madhu finds a note informing her about a bouquet for her and telling her to come to the bathroom in exactly 5 minutes. Of course Madhu is too curious to abide by this instruction and goes inside the bathroom. She finds it decorated with rose petals and a curtain hanging. RK is annoyed at this unexpected interruption from Madhu and asks her to stay put with eyes closed. Madhu with her eyes closed moves forward and accidently pushes RK who is standing on the other side of the curtain, and RK finds himself landing unceremoniously in the bath tub and all wet. He is furious and Madhu just can't stop laughing at this sight. She calls him a handsome thorn amidst the rose petals. RK is pouting at Madhu spoiling his surprise for her.

3. He asks her to get him out of the bath tub and in the process, manages to pull her down in the bath tub and Madhu finds herself practically in his lap.A romantic moment where they gaze at each other and Madhu is all blushing and embarassed. He calls her Biwi to which she reminds him that according to the note it is Madhu till marriage. This makes RK force Madhu to call him by his name and she says Rishabh very shyly.

4. RK is all in the romantic mood to remain in the bathtub forever and conduct mehendi, sangeet, marriage in the bathtub. Madhu feels very shy and does her best to get out of the bathtub but RK is in no mood to let her go anywhere.

TRP and GRP Ratings - Week 20 - 13th May to 19th May

Most channels GRPs increased compared to the week before. Starplus continues to be # 1, followed by Max at # 2.

Colors increased 5% from 165 to 174, and is now at number 4 position among channels - an improvement from # 5 the week before. Most of Colors shows did the same or a little better than the week before. Both MB and BV were the same.

TRPs:
MB dropped to #8 from #7 among shows. The good news is that TRPS haven't dipped any further! TRPs for MB last week were 2.5, the same as the week before. See chart below:

Note: does not take into consideration impact of adding new markets at various points. Size of these markets, viewing patterns, demographics, level of digitization etc. of those markets would impact TRPs. Also, hard to judge IPL's exact impact.

Looks like the 2.4 range indicates the hard-core viewer base that will watch the show, come what may. (ETA: Of course, this is assuming they do nothing to further damage the show. In which case this core is also going to be vulnerable to further attrition.) Hopefully the combination of several things may attract others back over the next 2-3 weeks:
IPL ending: should give those TRPs a nice little bump.
RK-Madhu Wedding rituals. Although speaking for myself, I'm viewing everything with a skeptical jaundiced eye, so I'm not going to enjoy it as much. Am assuming that there are more people like me out there. But we'll still be watching. Question is, are the old viewers going to come back.
Moving the story forward, to combat viewer ennui. And the introduction of new twists, if they make them nice and juicy (Sultan mother, Sultan turning negative etc.)

And then finally, a comparison to other top 10 shows. The chart below which shows TRP increase/drop from last week indicates that most shows did better or the same than the week prior. The blue bars are the ones that did better, the red are the ones that did worse, and the no bars are the ones that were the same.

PS: all my usual caveats apply - this is a rough analysis etc etc. Feel free to point out the holes (I freely admit there's probably some!)

cheesy breezy romance not only this, there are enuf reasons to dance

1) Madhu taking a decision and now she wants to marry RK bec. she thinks he has genuinely changed and he loves her now and she loves him too !! If it was not a dream, Padmini would have reacted the same way...it's her record that she has to oppose Madhu everytime and then agree later..the good thing is that Madhu decided not to tell Padmini bec. therez one thing which is left..which will make everyone believe that RK is not faking..the "letting go" test...when he'll come to know that Madhu wanted to take revenge from him , his reaction will decide whether or not he truly loves Madhu..we all know and they know but Padmini maata ko samjhana hai..so this time, neither RK is faking nor Madhu..Madhu looked genuinely cheerful today and it made me sooo so happy..

2) Madhu praying to Bappa ..OH GOD ! please listen to her ! Bappa ke saath MB ke CV's ki photo bhi rakh dein ?

3) the first scene where Madhu hugs RK while he's pretending to be asleep..

4) the bathroom romance 🤣 which went on and on and on , and continue tomorrow..i didn't mind at all ! the length i mean...what kind of surprise was this? i mean ppl. decorate any place but their bathrooms but our superstar is truly a sample piece , one of it's kind...him pulling Madhu inside the tub was expected (hai na my Rishbala gang?) and both of them passed the litmus test with flying colors..both were not awkward ..Madhu was blushing , as RK said, purane zamane wale expressions de rahi thi ..we were blushing and he was blushing..thank you so much for a glimpse of their future ...what else..i'm on cloud 9 today also, VD was looking super cute in the bath tub

ETA Sikky Dips scene was hilarious .. "tumhe apni mehandi par Sick+andar" likhvana pada tha 🤣 i was laughing for full 5 mins..

after today's epi m just happy in no mood to review...finally madhu trusts RK..n i will blv he z also genuine...no revenge game...so 4 d tym m just gonna sit back n njoy my Rishabala

Such a cute episode but my husband was at home to spoil the mood. He continued irritating me throughout the episode with his laws of physics and how difficult/ impossible it is to fall in the tub like RK/ Madhu did😡 Then his drawing parallels to RK. Need to see the episode again when alone to enjoy it. I so wait for Dips scenes when he is home as that's all what can keep him quite😆

But then so happy that Madhu has finally decided to give RK a chance. Now RK please don't play one of your old tricks. I guess the Padmini dream was to ensure that Sultan plays a spoilsport for the wedding.

Precap: Such a cute scene and DD was looking really cute in that.

That was quite a satisfying epsiode.

So Madhu's dream will probably turn out to be prescient - with Padmini locking her up (the kidnapping.) Interesting that Madhu's gut instinct now is to not confide in her mother. Now let's see how this story unfolds.

I liked Madhu praying to Bappa. Everytime Bappa is invoked, I feel good. And Mohan Kundra being included in the scene was an additional bonus. She trusts RK, and believes that she will be proved right, that her trust is not misplaced this time. Felt like it was a set up for events in the future.

So we may now officially consider the litmus test as having been passed. If yesterday's hugwala scene was platonic, today showed that this is a couple who is crazy about each other, and very physically attracted to each other. I have to say, DVD were completely spot on with their expressions and body language. Have to appreciate the director also, the scene was quite romantic without crossing the line.

Sikky-Dips: Dips was cutely caffeine deprived-ly grumpy. Sikky as usual threw some great one liners.

The precap: quite adorable.

I just loved today's episode 😊. Since RK has let the cat out of the bag (his true feelings), he defiantly feels more comfortable romancing her. This time the elements of awkwardness are eliminated from the romantic scene; the entire bathtub scene appeared more authentic. Today, I did sense RK's eagerness to get close to her intimately; this urgency was lacking previously. This is yet another beautiful element added to their relationship, can't wait to see more…

Thanks guys!! The tube light I am , I was wondering why this pointless scene..😆 But thanks for enlightening me.. I m way too dumb in certain domains.. 😉
