Healthy Akki rocks the role!

WAYE is one of the largest volunteer-based NGOs in the world, which was started under the aegis of Pandit Sri Sri Ravishankars The Art Of Living Foundation. The organisations primary objective is to empower youth physically, economically, socially and spiritually. It also has entities like the UNESCO and UNICEF backing them in their mission.

Perfect role

How and why did WAYE choose Akshay over all the other actors from the film industry? Dinesh Godke, director of the organisation, explains, We were looking for someone who could connect with the youth. More importantly, after doing our research, we found out that Akshay was someone who could be a great example. He doesnt smoke, doesnt drink and was just the person we were looking for. Our function, Yuvaratri, is all about youth power. Its the perfect platform to honour someone like Akshay. Hes the perfect role model.

Yuvaratri is targeting a crowd of over 1 lakh and promises to be an enchanting evening of music, dance, meditation and celebration. And of course, Pandit Sri Sri Ravishankar will be present at the occasion.

Flattered

Akshay himself is quite flattered to be the chosen one. I believe that film stars can use their mass appeal for a good cause. Even if my lifestyle inspires a few people, I will feel like Ive been a part of a good cause. To be a role model is also a huge responsibility and Im aware of that. I will do my best not to let anyone down. Its a privilege, he maintains.

Incidentally, it looks like a double celebration for the actor his new film, Bhagam Bhag, is all set for release on December 22.
