Rakhi's acting school kaput?

Actor's dream project adversely affected by low enrolments, bad management and busy schedules

Reena Thapar Kapoor

Actor, producer Rakhi Tandon had added another feather to her cap as principal of her own acting school. However, hardly has she carved a niche for herself as Angel in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi, that there is a huge crisis that's waiting for her to deal with. According to sources, Rakhi's acting school is at the verge of closing down. The actress, when spoken to says, "I was very passionate about this project because my dad and I had dreamt of making it really big."

But looks like her dreams have come crashing down big time. How does she react to the news of her school closing down? Rakhi offers a diplomatic repartee, "I can't talk about all that at this point. Right now it's my production house and acting that I want to concentrate on. Everything else has been put on a backburner." She adds that due to her hectic schedule, she is unable to give the kind of time and concentration that the acting school requires.

So, what happens to the promises she made to launch a film with the pass-outs of the first batch? "There were loads of mistakes and errors on the management front. At this point when things are so uncertain, I do not want to take any risk by investing in a film," she says. However she doesn't completely confirm the news about her academy shutting down.

But sources close to her say, "Rakhi often spoke about how she doesn't have many students registered in her school. It's some thing that has been bothering her for some time now." Probably that's why the actress sounded upset while talking about her 'dream project'.

The actress has been looking forward to commence shoot for Ekta Kapoor's Hum Paanch that begins early next month. "I'm eagerly waiting for Hum Paanch to begin. That was the show that first bought me into limelight," she says. There is yet another show that she's supposed to produce herself.

Rakhi reveals, "I'm producing and acting for a show that I'm making for Zee TV. It's a sex comedy. It'll be the first ever show of its kind on Indian television."
