Article Wedding season hits Tv Industry

If you are fed up of watching your screen idols getting married day in and day out, umpteen number of times and just want to see them settle down for good, there is one piece of news that might interest you. Many of them are actually getting hitched in real life too! It's like a wedding boom in the TV industry. The wedding season started in November and continues through December, January and February. It's considered an auspicious time and also because the holiday season is in full swing with Christmas and new-year around the corner. It's always better to plan out one's honeymoon during the holidays which are so very rare.

Manoj Bohra aka Prem of Kasuati Zindagi Kay walked down the aisle with fianc Teejay Sidhu in November. Arjun Punj-Gurdeep Kohli, Ravee Gupta-Manoj Bidwai, Roshni Chopra-director Siddharth Anand Kumar, Amit Sareen and fianc Vineesha are booked for the December wedding list. The other celebrities getting married in the months of January and February are Iqbal Khan with girlfriend Sneha, Amit Tandon and girlfriend, Rajshri Thakur-director Sanjot Vaidya and Tina Parakh and boyfriend Vikram Hazra.

We have already seen several love struck couples and their bonding on various shows and soaps they have done together. Tanaaz Lal and Bakhtiyar Irani actually left the audience, judges and co-contestants spell bound with some of their excellent performances on Nach Baliye 2. Now that they are out of the show which left them with little time, it's likely they will speed up the process soon.

In most cases, where both the couples are from the acting fraternity, time management (for their shopping sprees and honeymoon plans) has been difficult. "My daily routine is not giving me time for my wedding shopping. We are also postponing our honeymoon because we have to prepare for the grand finale of Nach Baliye 2," confessed Arjun Punj sometime back. Roshni Chopra too has got her wedding break in installments! "In between my various ceremonies like the sangeet, and mehendi, the actual wedding, the reception and the honeymoon, I have to keep coming back to the Kasamh Se sets as they can't afford to keep me out for long. My track is so very important," says Roshni.

Raavi Gupta who plays Raavan's mother in the weekly Zee show has been lucky to get time off. She is getting married to Manoj Bidvai in Goa in the traditional Indian style and will be going to Thailand for her honeymoon. "I would be having a traditional Hindu marriage on the beach. I am happy I could take a break," she claims. Rajshri Thakur aka Saloni of Saat Phere and Tina Parakh of Kahanii Ghar Ghar Kii and Kasautii Zindagi Kay fame have chosen their partners from outside the actor's studio. Tina is getting married to Vikram Hazra who is the programming head of the International Art of Living. Rajshri's husband to be is a director. Amit Tandon too is marrying his NRI girl friend with the blessings of his parents.

"It will be in the first week of February. We are still working out the date. We will have the wedding at the Art of Living ashram in Bangalore, after which there will be a reception in Mumbai. I have taken a month's leave from Balaji from the last week of January to plan out all the details," says Tina. Tina seems to be hell bent on not squeezing in work during the most important phase of her life. Same goes for Iqbal Khan who has taken a long leave. Amit Tandon too will be on wedding leave.

"I like to be involved. Both of us went together to purchase our rings. Most of the shopping was done by Sneha and me. The date of the nikah hasn't been finalised yet. I hope it happens on 15th January as we had met three years ago on that day. The marriage will be held in Delhi. As for our honeymoon plans, we have decided to take a trip to Europe," says Iqbal Khan. (Sampurn)
