Meera unfairly judges her mother

This is something that I've meant to bring up from the start but today's episode made me finally write it down.

First of all, I want to say her mother is AWESOME. I hope like hell she's not killed off. It's damn nice to see the woman not even give Balraj the chance to speak. 😆😆😆 She swiftly shuts him up.

Meera's mother is not a neglectful mother. Her mother is a hard working, career woman who raised her single-handedly. Meera doesn't appreciate the good things but thinks of the things she didn't have: father, big family, quality, fun time with her mother, etc. Meera would here and there bring up faults of her mother, such as that her mother only gave her educational dolls. Okay, sure that's not a fun childhood per se, but that in no way lessens her worth as a mother.

Meera also unfairly threw something out at her mother today. Unless I am misunderstanding what was said (I am not a Hindi-speaker), Meera accused her mother of only thinking of Meera after three months. That's not true. It hasn't been three months since her mother left for London. It's only been about a month. Ani had been dead for three months at the time of the pooja. When the family found out about Meera's pregnancy a few days later, the doctor said she had just completed three months of her pregnancy. And since then not even a month has passed. Balraj mentioned that four months haven't even been completed and Nandini's wearing colored clothes.

Meera's mother didn't know she was pregnant. All she said was that she would be in Berlin for business for a month and Meera can come after a month. It's not as if her mother abandoned a child or a minor. Meera's an adult, and probably had enough for hotel, food and other expenses. It's not so weird for her mother to have said what she said, her being a travelling business woman, and Meera an independent woman who was living alone in Dharamsala.

Meera could've explained the situation to her mother, and surely her mother would've made sure come get Meera. Sure, her mother may still insist on an abortion, but it's not as if her mother just didn't care for her and just came after three months, suddenly all worried about Meera for the first time.

And after this, I just want to say, I have frustrating, conflicting feelings. I do not ever want Meera to be under Balraj's so called haq and adhigaar. If she were to marry Agastya, then Balraj would have a hold--not because she's married to Agastya, modern people would obviously still get out and get a divorce. Balraj would have a hold because then he can employ legal tactics for the child, so that would be used to threaten Meera and keep her in line.

So why am I frustrated? Because while watching today, I had, and still have, the desire to see Meera reap what she sows for being so blind to Balraj and being so easily manipulated. It is not completely her fault--people like Agastya and Beeji don't bother outright warning her. But still, Meera judges her mother way too harshly, then takes up for Balraj and shields Balraj from her Mother's sharp tongue. Reap what you sow, Meera. Reap what you sow.

Just had to rant. I watched the first half of today's episode, and Meera's mother kicks ass. Meera's being an idiot who is so quick and willing to accuse her mother.

Meera's mother is the most amazing female character of the show 😎
I loved the lady !!

Awesome dialogues and I loved her for not letting Balraj speak. Hazir jawab everytime. Meera will repent when she'll realize what she lost for trusting Balraj and never understanding her mom.

Meera's mom is not of the very expressive mother kinda mom she was independent but still cared for Meera. I think she blamed and misunderstood her since childhood for not giving her time and the usual pampering she thought moms give. Meera is wrong for judging her too soon and too wrongly. Remember M's mom saying You'll realize when you'll be a mom but it'll be too late for Meera.

The loss will be too huge for her. Not because she is the only family she has but also for never understanding her views and her love / care . I wish the lady survives .. I dont want Balraj to kill her.

That is so true. While Meera may not have had a lovey-dovey mother, she had one who provided her with food, shelter and clothing. She even gave her the freedom to live her life on her own to a certain extent, hence she was able to have sex with Anirudh for two years.
Meera chose to hide the truth about her pregnancy from her mother because she knew her mother would behave just like all those lovey-dovey mothers she is sad she never had. The way she is behaving right now. So I would say that Meera hid what she wanted from her mother and chooses to highlight certain areas where she feels her mother was short coming.

Yeah agreed with all of it.
@bold Great point. Meera's going to regret her behavior and thoughts towards her mother, it will be too late--and it would be her own fault and her own making.

@bold, how quickly Meera forgets how Balraj commented on her clothes, and how she stood up for her right to wear as she pleases. And though he doesn't try to dictate her clothes now, she still frequently witnesses Balraj's rules and behavior regarding Nupur. Still she doesn't appreciate or remember the freedom and independence her mother gave her.

And your last paragraph. So true. So true, and you've nailed it.
