Hey Deepti...Had a great read. Poor Yash...the sweet came with bitter and more bitter. Aarti may have become Smriti but her inherent nature remains the same...the same politeness and respect for elders and the same yearning for her child. I am so looking forward to how Yash will now bring back his wife and son into his life.

Wow! Fabulous. Loved their arguments in the morning. Yash take her to Aakash's house. Radha ma surprised hearing his name. That means is Yash Radha maa's son.

OMG! Aarti already had Aayu. Poor Yash, shocked out of his wits seeing the baby in Aarti's hand, and calling her his mamma. He was assuming the child to be Aakash and Aarti's. But I am sure AAYU is Yash and Aarti's son.

It means she was pregnant when Aakash found her. Want to know the whole truth how Aarti met with Aakash, and why Radha ma is shocked hearing about Yash being Aarti's husband. Pls. update soon,

Chapter 45

Yash uttered a chocked sound, the scene in front of his eyes getting the better of him, and that got him Smriti's attention finally.

"Oh you are still here?" she asked. She had hoped that he would just disappear after dropping her. She did not even spare him another thought or rather made herself NOT think about him.

"What are you after anyway? I have made it clear that you got the wrong person, so why are you still here?" she asked not allowing Yash to speak up and just badgering him with questions.

"Aakash why did you allow this man inside? He is under some misconception but I have nothing to do with him. So just send him on his way" Aarti continued addressing Aakash this time.

"Smriti you are talking to Aakash's boss here..." Radha tried to remind her taken aback by Smriti's rudeness which was so not her.

"Ex-boss...maa I was fired yesterday by this man's elder brother. Come to think of it that man...Pankaj Scindia never really liked me from the beginning and was waiting for an excuse to fire me" Aakash said to his mother but did not notice her flinch yet again at the mention of the sirname.

"What..but why?" Radha asked quickly recovering from her discomfirture, not liking the fact that he had not told her earlier as heart sank when she realized that her son had lost the first legal and honest job he had found.

Aakash just shrugged indicating that he did not know the reason for it and thinking inwardly that rich people were fickle and would do anything that pleases them.

"Oh! not only you hold me hostage you even fired Aakash. What had he ever done do deserve this?" Smriti asked keeping the empty milk bottle on the table and placing a now sleeping Aayu into the swing made of an old saree.

"I did not know about his employment being terminated. I was otherwise occupied yesterday" Yash said genuinely not knowing this.

"How convenient...claim ignorance and that's it. Do you even know how the other side lives and how important a job is for us?" Smriti accused getting angrier by the second.

"Let it be Smriti I will find so other work. Bhopal is a big place someone else would surely find me capable enough to give me a job" Aakash assured Smriti.

"How could you take this so calmly, Aakash? I will just have to take on more students for the tuition classes I hold here till the time you find another job" Smriti said feeling outrage on Aakash behalf and trying to reassure him the only way she knew.

"Smriti you are already stretching yourself I do not want you to over burden yourself" Radha told her immediately.

"I have a better offer if you are interested" Yash did some very quick thinking on his part.

"What offer?" Smriti asked cautiously. How could the man who was indirectly responsible for their situation have anything to offer.

"Come back with me to the house" Yash blurted.

"What?" Smriti spit out amazed at the man's nerve.

"As a governess or nanny to my children" Yash kept adding things as they popped in his mind.

"You do not know if I am qualified for that position?" Smriti told him.

"Are you not?" Yash countered.

"I am, but how could you just assume?" Smriti argued.

"I saw how you are with this baby and you yourself mentioned that you are giving tuitions so that's a good thing right?" Yash was saying whatever came to him.

"You really must think I am stupid? First you fire Aakash for no particular reason and then on the side you say I am your wife and just because I did not agree to that you are now finding another way to keep me at your house. I am not going to fall for it" Smriti told Yash flatly.

"I assure you I have no hidden agenda or ulterior motive behind this offer. I accept that you are not...I mean that you are Smriti" Yash tried to sound sincere.

Radha who was listening to the whole conversation pulled Smriti inside of a quick word leaving Yash hanging.

"What do you think you are doing Smriti?" questioned Radha.

"What do you mean maa?" Smriti asked not understanding Radha.

"He obviously knows you, he is the link to your past and you are not allowing him the chance to make you remember that past. How could you do this?" asked Radha firmly.

"I do not have a past. I have just Aayu and that is all I care about" Smriti told her quietly avoiding eye-contact.

"Liar..I can see it in your eyes"Radha told her.

"Maa I cannot afford to reconnect with my past you very well know the reason why? Do you think that this man or any man for that matter can accept me now with Aayu?" Smriti questioned.

"How can you make assumptions about him without giving him a chance?" Radha asked back.

"I am not going to take any chances where Aayu is concerned. He is the reason for my living and that is all I am concerned about" Smriti told Radha firmly.

"No Smriti you owe it to that man over there. If he is indeed your husband don't you think he has a right to know and then decide? What if you have children from that marriage, don't those children need their mother?" Radha was guessing but instinctively knew that there were other children involved when she saw Smriti flinch.

That question got to Smriti like nothing else did. She recollected the picture she had seen of three innocent looking angels in the room that morning. Was she indeed their mother? Was she choosing one over three others? Was she really that partial?

"Maa I know you are right. But I am so scared to look back. What if ...what if.."

"Hush Smriti...I totally understand you do not have to say a word. Take up his offer. Go live in his house and find out. If things do not work out you know you are always welcome back here" Radha told her to which Smriti got tears in her eyes.

"Oh maa..."Smriti went ahead and hugged Radha. How much she owed Radha maa? And even now all of maa's thoughts were focused on her future and her happiness.

After some time Smriti composed herself. She had just made up her mind, it was perhaps a very courageous step for her. Her ten months of exile from her past had finally come to an end.

Yash was waiting for Aarti to come back. He hoped she would agree to his offer. If he could just have her at home he hoped with time her memories might return. And if she agreed they could even go for medical help. When Smriti returned Yash was again ready to make a bid to convince her to take up his offer. He knew he could not give up, he just had to try harder. Yash was just about to say something but Smriti bet him to it.

"Only as a governess...no other strings attached?" were her words.

Relief flowed through Yash upon hearing the fact that Aarti considered his proposal.

"Well...?" Smriti asked growing impatient.

"Hmm...what...yeah...agreed...whatever you say...however you want it" Yash stammered.

"Sorry?" Smriti asked getting confused at his broken answer.

"I mean no strings attached. Just come home...I mean the children would love to have you as a governess. We can go over other details later. I just have one requirement that you start immediately. I willing to wait till you pack" Yash knew he was showing how eager he was and was hoping that his over enthusiasm did not make Aarti change her mind.

"What? So soon..." Smriti was still a bit unsure and this haste was making her panic even more.

"Yes yes Smriti you must, come I will help you pack" Radha encouraged and Yash gave her a look that said a big thank you to which Radha just smiled. Aakash was just staying quiet all the while for he had a lot of questions which he was sure his mother would answer soon when they were alone.

Yash was feeling very buoyant as he put the luggage in the car. What was taking her so long he wondered? Finally Aarti emerged and seeing her brought a big smile on his face. Then his gaze shifted to her hands and the smile disappeared and a frown appeared on his face when he saw the baby in her arms.

Of course the baby what did he think? But how was he going to explain all this to his family members when he did not understand anything himself. He had to meet Radha maa again in private to get to know more but that had to wait. For now he was glad he was taking is wife home even though not in ideal circumstances.

He held open the front door for Aarti but Smriti ignored it and sat behind. Yash felt bad but went over the other side and sat in the driver's seat. They bid good bye to Radha and Aakash and drove off.

"Can we make a brief stop-over please" Smriti requested.

"Of course where do you want you go" Yash asked looking in the rear-view mirror as he spoke.

"To the temple please" Smriti said.

Yash nodded and detoured and took them to the nearest temple.

Smriti was feeling very restless and had wanted to seek some assurance from God, some sign to make her feel alright that she made the right decision.

She closed her eyes in front of God and prayed. She was totally unaware that Yash had followed her all the way and was standing right behind her. Just as she opened her eyes she saw the priest come her way.

"What a wonderful family! May God shower his blessings on both you and your little child" the purohit said.

Confused Smriti looked behind to see Yash behind her and immediately started to correct the mistake.

"We are not a family..."

While she heard Yash say "Thank ..." and stopping when he saw her glaring at him.

"Oh...I am sorry but do have this Prasad and May God be with you always" an embarrassed purohit said as he handed them the Prasad and went away.

Yash and Smriti got further delayed with a flat tire. Yash got a call from home asking about their whereabouts and reason for delay. Aayu grew cranky meanwhile and Smriti had a tough time pacifying him. In all this it became late evening when they finally reached Scindia Mansion.

Yash and Smriti got out of the car with Aayu secure in Smriti's arms. The house was dark. All lights were off. Yash was confused and Smriti grew nervous as they stepped inside.

"SURPRISE" screamed everyone as the lights were switched on and as Yash and Smriti took in the view in front of them, a beautifully decorated doorway leading up to the big banner which read:
