When you're seen with the same man or woman on your arm for a number of years, people begin to look forward to a wedding date. As they did with actors Gurdeep Kohli and Arjun Punj. Predictions for a 2007 wedding were proved wrong when the couple announced their big day - December 10, 2006. "Yes, we're getting married on December 10," announces the elated Arjun.
The families performed the hardas (Sikh prayers at a gurudwara) a couple of weeks ago. Since both Gurdeep and Arjun belong to Punjabi families, the shaadi promises plenty of shor-sharaba. "Most of our relatives live in Delhi and so it only makes sense to have all the ceremonies there. But we'll definitely have a big function in Mumbai for our friends and colleagues," informs the bride-to-be, Gurdeep.
The two have already informed their respective production houses about their leave of absence. Arjun says that they planned their wedding in advance so that his show Woh Rehne Wali Mehlon Ki and Gurdeep's Sindoor Tere Naam Ki could build up a bank of episodes.
"We're both working on daily shows so we can't afford to be away for too long. I'm going to be out of touch with the rest of the world in December. I think I should be back by the first week of January. I want to enjoy the phase of being newly married," she laughs.
Have they planned their honeymoon yet? "We have a lot of time to think about where we'd want to go for our honeymoon. Recently, someone wrote about our intentions to go to Europe. But that's completely untrue. We haven't thought about it yet," she replies. The actors insist that at this point they are concentrating on their work. "I'm terribly excited about my other show, Jet Set Go. I'm hoping to outdo Tasnim Sheikh, as she is the one doing well at the moment," says Gurdeep. Here's wishing them all the best, for their on-screen, and more important, for their off-screen endeavours.
