Romance at the Taj for Amrita

Amrita Arora was in Agra for a show when her cricketer boyfriend Usman Afzal decided to surprise her with a romantic rendezvous at the Taj Mahal.

Says Amrita, "Malaika, Yana (Gupta) and I were performing for a show there when Usman drove down from Delhi and surprised me with a visit. He had gone to sort out his visa in Delhi.

Once he landed up at Agra, he just bundled me into the car and said that he's taking me somewhere. And the next thing I knew, we were at the Taj Mahal. Though Usman's been there before, he loved it much more this time since we were visiting together. It's the world's most romantic place for lovers."

Awestruck

Amrita says this was her first visit to the Taj Mahal and she was overawed by the monument's beauty. She says, "It was very beautiful. Our special moment together was when we walked around the gardens holding hands. People were crowding around us but the organisers had sent security, so we were well taken care of."

What was the best part about visiting the Taj? "We had this 13-year-old tour guide called Chotu given to us by the hotel who seemed to know more about the Taj than Noor Jehan and Shah Jehan did! He told us about Noor Jahan ki kahaniyan and Lal Quilla se kya dikhta hai.

He was very cute. The aura of the Taj is overpowering. It's so silent and peaceful. Some local shopkeepers gifted us some miniature Taj Mahals and that was very sweet. I couldn't take pictures as I forgot to take my camera along. My dad gifted me this nice digital camera last year but I never carry it with me."

Varied roles

Amrita also recently signed up for Atul Agnihotri's Hello with Zayed Khan, Salman Khan, Gul Panag and Sharman Joshi. She says, "I play Radhika, a model who marries and settles down as a traditional bahu."

She's also completed Victoria 203 where she play the character played by Saira Banu in the original. "I get to dance Thoda thehro remixed to today's beats. I'm also doing Vikram Bhatt's film where I play a bewitching enchant-ress. The film is complete."

Recently people on the sets of Nach Baliye were surprised to see Amrita drop in with Usman. "I was shooting for an ad in Film City and Malaika asked us to drop in for lunch. It was the episode where Bakhtyaar and Tanaaz got voted out. I know Yash and Gouri Tonkk as Yash and I have done Fight Club together, so I was rooting for them. They make a very sweet couple," says Amrita.
