Prize giving rewards high achieving Cambridge students in Cyprus 👏
University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) is set to honour a Cypriot student 👏who has achieved the highest mark internationally in her exams. Argyro Nicolaou, of The English School, Nicosia, gained the top mark in Cambridge IGCSE Literature (English) this summer. She is among 16 high achieving students in Cyprus being acknowledged for their hard work at a prize-giving ceremony on 13 December 2006.👏
😊Peter Millet, British High Commissioner and Richard Walker, British Council Director in Cyprus, will be present to acknowledge Argyro and other students who achieved exceptional results in the June 2006 examinations. The award ceremony will be held at the Hilton Park Hotel, Nicosia.
Argyro said: "The variety and breadth of the syllabus gave me the chance to explore many aspects of English Literature, something that motivated me to devote all my energy to this entrancing subject which never fails to make me want to learn more and more."
Mrs Karen Mason, Argyro's teacher said: "Argyro has been an exceptional student in the subject, and fully deserves this success. It has been a real pleasure to teach and support her over the years, as she has the maturity to listen to the views of others whilst shaping her own responses."
A total of 17 students are being honoured for coming top in their subject in Cyprus. In addition to this Max Kowalewski from Heritage School will also be rewarded for gaining overall top marks for Cambridge International A Levels in Cyprus and Shinjinee Pal from Logos School for overall top marks for Cambridge IGCSEs. They will both receive a prize of 250 Cypriot Pounds.
Richard Walker said: "The British Council in Cyprus is delighted to continue its work with University of Cambridge International Exams to offer young Cypriots the opportunity to benefit from a British developed international qualification. I congratulate all those with such impressive achievements in subjects ranging from IT to Sociology, from English Literature to Business Studies demonstrating the breadth and depth of young Cypriot talent and achievement."
CIE's Ann Gibson, Business Development Manager, Europe, and Nick Sansome, CIE's Education Development Manager, will also be there to congratulate exceptional students in Cyprus who have worked hard to gain Cambridge qualifications.
Ann said "This event is to acknowledge and reward the consistently high standard of Cypriot students, who are among the top achievers in the world. We congratulate the students for gaining such outstanding results. They should be proud to have gained qualifications that will help provide a solid foundation for them in the coming years. I look forward to the continuing success of students in Cyprus."
