Chapter 15

She couldn't sleep … she was fully disturbed .. for a long time she sat by the window side , blankly looking at the night sky… she walked to and fro in her room…still disturbed she decided to watch some kathak CD's she had in her collection … she went to her bag and took the CD 's out ….only then she remembered her laptop was with trisha.. disappointed she decided to keep the CD's back when she noticed rey's laptop on the table… she had questions playing in her mind .. she walked towards the table and took his laptop and went towards the bed . she sat on the bed and switched on the power button.

Battery low .. the black screen gave a warning signal…. "mmm…." She looked on either sides for the charger and finally slid down from the bed to look up for the charger …she went to the side table where she found the charger and was about to pick it when she noticed a shimmer from the table .. frowning a little she removed the charger .. her eyes twinkled when her hazel eyeballs reflected the small ring that lay on the table.. her face glowed with happiness … with a soft smile she took it in her hands

"the ring which I wore ansh 10 years back on the day of our engagement…" she looked on the table … it had all things he use daily.. " matlab… " she blushed a little while a soft smile crept her lips "he still treasures this ring… and why would have he kept it like this here with the things he use daily??? Matlab??? He loves remembering me??? "she blushed a little while questioning her thoughts… she looked at the small piece of gold that shined on her palm lovingly like an innocent child and then looked at the huge photo of rey that was kept on the wall …

she frowned a little like a kid … " rey ,why are you this complex …if you love me then why do you behave so indifferently at times ???.. hmmm… [she kept her hands on her hips and moved to the photo rendering a serious look] so Mr Reyaansh Singhania ,aapke [she took her index finger and poked at his chest on the photo] dil mein mere liye kya feelings hai, ye mein jankar hi rahungi ,I know that you love me , but there is something that I don't know ….mmm… that makes you behave like this, angry young man!!! hmm.she gave a naughty smile and went close to the photo to stroke his cheeks on the photo…

slowly she caressed his cheeks on the photo and continued .. "I love you Rey….aur apko pata hai .. [she made a cute puppy face] mujhe bilkul bhi achha nahi lagta jab aap mujhse aise angry tone mein baat karte hai toh…kya mein itni buri hoon??? ….but I wont accept my failure that fast… I will make you realize your love for me…" reverting back her gaze to the ring she had in her palm, she walked back to the bed …she took the laptop and kept it back on the table and laid down on the bed … she kept the ring on the cushion on the side which was supposed to be his…holding her cushion tightly she kept looking at the ring that faced her …the cool night breeze that blew in kept caressing her beautiful cheeks …soon she slipped into a beautiful sleep…..

Same time

Still cursing himself for falling in love with kria , he turned the steering wheel harshly , making the vehicle screech …. He braked the vehicle to a shrieking halt in front of the rehearsal hall where he used to rehearse with kria… pulling out some bottles of liquor he stepped out of the vehicle….mad with rage , he threw the cap of one bottle away … inserting the neck of the bottle deep into his throat he stamped the door of the car. It hit the metal body of the car with a bang. The alcohol made its way down his throat …while he kept gulping it again and again… with wobbly steps he made his way to the rehearsal hall securing the other bottles close to his chest.. he threw the door open stamping it hard ….

The first bottle of liquor was finished. Licking the last drop left he made his way in… directly opposite to the main door of the spacious hall was a big photo of him and kria doing dance …. Burning in anger he rushed towards the photo… he banged the empty bottle on the photo breaking the glass frame and the bottle together.

" cheat!!!!... cheat!!!!!... " he shouted at her photo…. "you cheated me kria…. In return for all love I gave .. you ditched me … you are a cheat!!!!!..." he threw open the cap of the second bottle and inserted the neck into his mouth . taking a heavy gulp of the liquor, he continued "kisi ne kaha tha ki do.. [he was struggling for words as the liquor started its work on his brain]dont trust girls!!! sare ladkiyan ek jaisi hai… pehle kisi se pyar ka dikhawa karte hai.. phir uski sare paise lootne k baad seedha… bye bye….!!! "

he took another heavy gulp of liquor, struggling to stand straight he continued "par .. meine sapne mein bhi nahi socha tha kk.. krriaa ki tum…[he pointed his index finger at her photo swaying from one side to another without proper balance] tum aise kar sakti hai…. Cheee!!!!"

he inserted the neck of the bottle again into his mouth and feel on the floor with the loss of balance " galati…mera hai..[he pointed to his chest, swaying his head from one side to another].. meine tume trust kiya… trust!!!!!... hey you!!![he pointed his index finger again at her photo]tu janti bhi hai ,meaning of .. ff..foff trust!!![he swayed his hand from one side to another, slowly loosing his consiousness]… no !!!... you know only to cheat... cheat!!!!..."

he lay on the floor still sipping the liquor ….he kept reciting "you are a cheater and me …. FOOOLLL.. FOOL .. FOOL!!" the liquor had now chained his conscious brain .. he closed his eyes and fell asleep…

Morning singhania mansion- rey's bedroom

The sunrays kissed her beautiful face disturbing her sleep…she groaned drowsily 'while stretching her arms..her eyelids seemed to be too heavy. She struggled to open one of them … her drowsy eyes caught the blur image of the ring that lay on the cushion near her …she smiled softly and said " good morning rey!!" she smiled yet again at her craziness .. slowly she slid down from the bed , took the ring and kept it back at its place and went to freshen up…after getting ready she was about to move to the door when she heard a knock at the door .

she went and opened it " gaurav???"she said

Gaurav looked at her foot and then to her and said " ha taani , how is your foot now?? .. is it still hurting???how is the wound … I hope it got cured …and agar nahi hua toh we will go and see a doc .. and.."

"oh hellooo… pehle sans toh lo!!" she raised her eyebrows at gaurav who kept asking about her wound

" taani , stop joking and answer me …" gaurav said a bit seriously

" its ok yar… it got cured .. and now I can walk properly and by today evening I will be perfectly alright so you need not worry about the event .. I will be able to dance "before she could continue he said " so you think I was worried for the dance????"

She felt a bit awkward at his question "..n..no.. gaurav , I didn't mean that.. I wanted to say that I am alright and …"

Gaurav : " hmmm.. take proper rest so that it will be cured by the evening …"..he said and she noded slightly .. he turned to walk while she stood still for a second . after that she went down to have breakfat with the others … once breakfast was over , taani and her friends were chit chatting in the guest room which was allotted to her friends … trisha, purvi ,rohan and gaurav were chit chatting while taani's eyes were on the clock and her phone ..

she kept looking at both periodically expecting his call…the clock struck 11am.. " why didn't he return home...is he that busy???..." she kept looking at her phone "shall I call???" she kept asking herself .after a fight with her mind , she decided to call rey .. she called him 2,3 times but there wasn't any response from the other end . now she was worried … "he said he would be with his friend swayam.. so shall I call swayam???... no.. no taani , he might get angry …. Hmmm.. but its this late .. he didn't return home… he said he would return in the morning …shall I call swayam .. ???" she was totally confused but at last she called swayam

Taani: " hello"

Swayam : "yes …"

Taani : " ji mein taani bol rahi hoon … rey's….wife.."

Swayam : "ohh taani.. "

Taani: " vo actually , rey was not attending my call.. and… since he was with you so I thought why not call you..vo ..mm.. yesterday before leaving he said he would come back by morning .. I am sorry if I disturbed your work..can you please hand him the phone if he is near by… " swayam was shocked hearing what taani said .. he didn't know what to reply back.. he was struggling for an answer while his mind was worried for rey

Swayam : " ha .. ha taani …rey was here.. but.. but… but now he is not here "

Taani: " not there ??" her voice reflected worry.

Swayam understood her worry from her voice and replied " but taani there is nothing to worry , rey .. is with.. hh.. Sharon .. ha .. Sharon" swayam managed to give an answer and continued " and uhhh.. they have gone to get some important things which we need for an upcoming event .. taani actually , I am a bit busy now… you don't worry , I will ask rey to call back once he returns ..ok??..ok !!" he cut the call..

taani was not fully convinced with the answer but still she managed to smile in front of her friends , although she was worried for him.

Swayam's place

Swyam made a series of calls to rey but there was no response from the other end .. " why did rey lie to taani??? He said he is coming here??? But .. why??? n why is he not answering our calls???" swayam rubbed his stubble in worry " Sharon!!.. may be he told Sharon…" swayam found an answer and made a call to Sharon

Sharon :"hello"

Swayam: " ha Sharon.. uhh.. you know where rey is??? Did he tell you ??"

Sharon : "what???what are you asking swayam .. n rey kahan hoga .. offcourse either in his house or may be at practice .. but whats the matter"

Swayam : " no Sharon …infact rey is not in his house from yesterday evening and taani is a bit worried .. he told her that he will be with us and I wonder why he lied"

Sharon : "kya … he lied to her .. but … why???? "

Swayam : " Sharon but the point is not that … he is not attending her calls and I also tried but he didn't attend mine too … and even I am worried now …we need to find out where is he "

Sharon : " swayam, can you come my place .. we will go together … I doubt he is with kria …"

Swayam : " kria??...[swayam paused for a minute and continued]ok Sharon I will be there in 10 minutes"

Sharon steeped forward seeing swayam's car approaching her house .swayam braked the car to a smooth halt and opened the front door for Sharon . she got in and closed the door

Swayam: "so Sharon , shall we leave to kria's place ??"

Sharon : " no swayam look the time its almost 12 in the noon.. even if rey is with kria , they would be there at their practice place??"

" you are right Sharon" swayam said as he ignited the engine and drove off.. after a small journey they reached the building where rey and kria held their practice sessions

"swayam, look .. rey's car is parked there .. and that means .."

" rey is here " replied swayam and both of them got out and rushed to the practice hall. Swayam pushed the door and the door flung open . The two of them were shocked at the sight they saw before them .. scattered glass pieces of liquor bottles, photo frames of kria and rey, rey's phone that lay at a corner and rey who lay unconscious at one corner

"Oh God!!" exclaimed Sharon

"rey !!..." both of them called and rushed upto rey..

" rey , what have you done to yourself ??.. rey.." Sharon called turning rey to face them ..

" Sharon, we will take him home .. I think he has drunk too much" swayam said trying to lift rey . Sharon nodded and tried helping swayam .. with great effort the two managed to lift rey . Sharon held rey's right arm round her neck while swayam held rey's lft arm round his neck . Supporting an unconscious rey on their shoulders , they made their way to the car.

After a short journey they reached swayams apartment .swayam and the elder servant carried rey to the washroom and gave him a shower .rey was made awake from his sleep still half conscious rey started giving broken speeches " swa..ayam… yar.. she cheated me .. cheater .. cheater "

Same time outside the room

Sharon was sitting in the living room holding her chin with her arms , worried for rey . suddenly swayams phone which was kept on the table started beeping …Taani…. The name flashed on the screen .. Sharon was even worried now .. what will she tell to taani.. confused , Sharon took the call

Taani : " ji , mein taani…"

Sharon : " hi taani .. I am Sharon .. vo actually swayam and rey are not here .. they went outside for an urgent work .. and swyam forgot his phone here .. they are a bit busy and will return late night only so rey may not come home tonight but he will be there tomorrow morning .. ok taani .. bye " Sharon said all in one go frantically and then cut the call.

on the other hand taani was even more confused now . somehow she didn't feel good hearing sharon's and swayam's replies ..

Hours passed and it was night around 9 pm now .. rey slowly opened his eyes . swayam and Sharon who were sitting on a couch nearby felt relieved . Sharon called the kaka [servant] to bring coffee for rey . sipping the coffee rey explained all what happened to Sharon and swayam

same time singhania mansion- guest room

***CLAPS *** Trisha jumped from the bed and started clapping " superb di .. you both were superb…" gaurav and taani who just finished their last round of practice moved apart from their final pose

" ya taani , teacher ji was right you both make a deadly combination yar !!.. you both were superb!!!" purvi joined

Rohan moved forward and patted Gaurav's back " ya man .. you both were awesome!!"

" di dekhna kal aap donom ko standing ovation milega .. di you both were super super super awesome "trisha said again

" ha yar …rasnirtya!!!toughest and the most sensitive kathak form and you both were doing it so involved .. the passion and love your eyes reflected , and taani your expressions were so superb…… and how do you both do it yar" purvi said again

"and di kal dekhna , after performance all are gonna mistake you and gurav bhaiya as a couple[trisha chuckled] just like teacherji and master.. you both look like one..[trisha said to guarav and taani and then turned to purvi] hai na purvi di …both were looking so much like a real life couple na???" trisha continued her usual bak bak but this time Gaurav felt really awkward and he walked away from the room and there was an awkward silence .. purvi and rohan exchanged glances while taani too walked away to her room ..

Rey's room

After having a shower taani changed to her night dress and came and sat on the bed … she supported her back on the back rest and looked sideways to rey's photo on the wall " rey.. kahan ho aap???.. I wanted to talk a lot … " she slid down from the bed and moved to the photo "aap ko pata hai???.. tomorrow I am gonna live my dream .. my dream performance …and I wanted to share with you rey but……[she drooped her head down but again looked upto the photo] its almost 1 week now since our marriage got over and from day 1 onwards I am trying to talk to you but you always walk away from me …. Rey , don't you want to know about me…my dreams, my passion….i knew almost everything about you but I doubt whether you know a single detail about me .. rey , are you that busy , that you cant spare 5 minutes to talk to your wife ???.. I wanted you to be present for my dream performance but see my fate , I didn't even get a chance to tell you…now I have only one hope .. that you will return tomorrow morning and then I would be able to tell you before the event.. but .. if you wont come home tomorrow .. then…."

She was sad, confused , worried and anxious … she walked upto the window and sat by the window , looking outside… she looked down towards the huge garden of the bunglow …. Images flashed in her mind about him lifting her up in his arms and walking … how she remained close to him , circling her arms around his neck … unknown to herself , she had a smile on her face …she moved from the window to her bed when her eyes caught sight of the recliner near by… the one in which he slept on their wedding night .. she made short steps towards it . slowly she sat on the recliner .. she had a soft smile on her lips .. slowly she moved her palms over the recliner thinking about him… her naughty mind gave her flashes of the morning after their wedding night when she fell on top of him on this recliner.. she blushed unknown to herself .. with a soft smile she lay on the recliner trying to feel him…. She closed her eyes and after some time fell asleep

The music started …. The soft , melodious music … the huge auditorium was dark except for the stage which still had curtains on … the auditorium was fully packed with people from all over the country .. the biggest event in honor of all dance forms of the country would start in a few minutes ….

The curtains slowly raised … Rey made his first step into the auditorium … he descended the long fleet of steps that led from the balcony to the ground level …. The curtain was raised fully… the light focused on the 2 dancers who faced opposite to the audience … the female dancer stood close to the male dancer both leaning back supporting on one leg while having their other leg held a little above the ground …

He made his way down the long fleet of steps … the music flowed and the dancers turned .. he paused somewhere in the middle of the long fleet of steps …..his chocolate brown eyeballs had her image draped in that dance dress .. he stood frozen at his position… the two dancers moved gracefully to the music doing full justice to the dance form .. their eyes reflected the emotion they wanted to portray- love and passion

" rey.. aap… achha hua aap aa gaye .. I wanted to tell a lot of things .. rey I am so so so happy today " she said beaming in happiness .. her eyes were twinkling .. she started speaking unknown to his movement , showing a lot of actions .. her palms looked even beautiful with the alta still on…she stopped realizing his presence just a centimeter away from her .. her heart started beating fast…..

" rey .. chodiye mujhe .. ye .. ye kya kar rahe ho app.. rey ..what is this rey???" she pleaded trying to rescue her wrist from his rough grip

" kyu.. kyu nahi kar sakta main huhh???.. I AM YOUR HUSBAND DAMNIT!!!DO YOU GET THAT!!!" he barked onto her face
