It was finally the day to go to New York. Jeevika and Viren both needed a break from their hectic lives. Jeevika was finally free of exams now as she passed her last general surgery exam a week ago. She was really sleep deprived and not to forget nauseous everyday. Day or night all she felt like doing was puking. She hoped it would eventually stop after the first trimester like it did with Zaaine, but as of now she had to deal with it. Their flight was around midnight so they left they planned on leaving home at 9.
v - "Zaaine where are you? We're getting late"
z - "Daa me here" he said looking at his parents from the top of the stairs. He slowly climbed down carrying his backpack all ready for his first vacation.
v - "Ready to go?"
z - "Ready Daa. Mommy are you feeling better?"❤️
j - "I'm better Zaaine, thanks for asking"
v - "The taxi service should be here soon"
j - "I'll be right back" she said covering her mouth and running to the bathroom again.
z - "Daa, mommy?"
v - "You stay here. I'll check on her" he said walking to the bathroom. He handed her a towel to wipe her mouth with after she rinsed her mouth.
v - "Where's your sleeping medicine. It's better you take that so you fall asleep instantly on the plane otherwise you're going to be sick there too"
j - "It's in my purse" she said holding her head
Viren helped walk her outside and made her sit on the couch. He got her some lemon water and she took her medicine. Zaaine got up from his spot and sat next to Jeevika side-hugging her getting comfy. Then the doorbell rang and it was the taxi-driver. Viren opened the door and took all the luggage outside.
v - "Ready to go guys"
Jeevika got up and held Zaaine's hand. They both walked together outside hand in hand. Once they settled inside they were off to the airport. After their check-in, the three of them went straight to the gate as Jeevika was exhausted. They settled down over there and within no time Jeevika was asleep on Viren's shoulder and Zaaine was playing with his iPad.
z - "Daa me sleep too"
v - "Aren't you hungry Zaaine?"
z - "No Daa me sleep"
v - "Okay, can you wait twenty minutes then you can sleep inside on the plane"
z - "Okay. Daa how long it takes to see snow?"
v - "Uhm roughly around nine hours. But first we have to stop in Chicago and then we will take another plane from Chicago to New York"
z - "Why daa?"
v - "Because the plane needs a break"
z - "So plane take nap?" 😳
v - "Kind of" he said laughing 🤣
z - "Daa mommy no eat today"
v - "Yeah she's feeling sick. She'll eat later"
z - "Okay"
Finally it was time to go inside. First the families with kids were asked to board the flight. Viren woke Jeevika up and the three of them walked inside the plane. They headed back to their seats, slowly though as Zaaine was walking in front of Viren and Jeevika. Zaaine was observing everything carefully. He was looking at the seats, to the TVs placed around the plane.
v - "Zaaine these are our seats. Do you want to sit next to the window?"
z - "Yes Daa"
v - "Okay get in then. Go sit"
Zaaine went and sat on his seat still wearing his backpack. Viren put their handbags up in the storage compartments as Zaaine started looking at the stuff at his seat. The magazines and most of all he was enjoying the view outside the window. Even though it was dark he kept looking outside as if he was going to see someone or something.
v - "Jeevs you want to sit on the side or the middle?"
j - "The side please"
Viren got inside sitting right in the center of Zaaine and Jeevika. Jeevika fell asleep instantly since she wasn't feeling well leaving Viren to handle all of Zaaine's questions. Zaaine kept looking at people walking in. He was trying to comprehend everything happening.
z - "Daa"
v - "Yes Zaaine"
z - "Who drives plane?"
v - "There's a pilot in the front of the plane and he flies the plane up in the air"
z - "But Daa its dark. How he see"
v - "They have special lights sp they can see the way"
z - "Really?"
v - "Yup. Are you hungry now? You didn't eat dinner properly Zaaine"
z - "Mommy no eat too"
v - "Mommy's sick. She doesn't feel like eating. I'll feed her later. What do you want?"
z - "My cookies"
v - "Ok hold UP"
Viren stood up and got the food he had packed for Zaaine out from his bag. Zaaine started eating his cookies while Viren fastened his seat belt
z - "Daa whats this?"
v - "It's a seat belt. You know like the kind you wear in the car? Well you have to wear it in the plane also"
z - "Okay daa"
Pretty soon it was almost time to go. As the plane started moving through the runway Zaaine got a little scared from the noise. He held onto Viren's arm and Viren held him.
v - "Don't worry nothing is going to happen"
z - "Daa this scarry"
v - "Its okay. We'll be up in the sky soon and then you won't feel anything"
z - "Daa nooo" he said panicking more
Jeevika woke up also by now and saw Zaaine holding onto Viren. She took out a pack of gum from her sweatshirt and took a piece out to give to Zaaine.
j - "Zaaine here. Take this piece of gum"
Zaaine took the gum and put it in his mouth.
v - "He's scared"
j - "He'll fall asleep soon. Its past midnight now. This boy is just way to excited for snow"
z - "Mommy ear hurt"
j - "Just keep chewing on the gum. It will help"
Zaaine was a little petrified but he did as his parents told him to.
v - "Close you eyes Zaaine"
The lights turned off in the plane and pretty soon they were ready for takeoff. As the plane flew up, Zaaine's stomach started trembling and he held onto Viren tighter squeezing his eyes. Within a few minutes Zaaine opened his eyes not feeling anything anymore. He seemed more calm and let go of Viren.
z - "Daa me sleep please"
v - "Okay, you want to lay down"
Zaaine nodded yes. Viren lifted the armrest and undid Zaaine's belt so he could move and lay his head on Viren's lap sleeping comfortably. He remembered to get his cars blanket out from his backpack and covered himself with that first. He was asleep within twenty-minutes and that's when Jeevika woke up again.
v - "Are you feeling better?"
j - "Not really. I need some ginger ale or sprite"
v - "The air hostess should be coming soon with the drinks cart. Remember last time when we were going to New York"
j - "Zaaine was kicking me so hard"
v - "And this time your throwing up so bad"
j - "Its hard to choose which is worst" she said smiling
v - "I wonder how long this kid will be asleep for"
j - "He should be down till Chicago. He didn't even take a nap out of excitement today Viren"
v - "He's so funny. His questions though are never ending"
j - "Tell me about it" 😆
v - "You know what I really want right now?"
j - "what?"
v - "That pizza that we all had at the Chicago airport. It was soo good"
j - "I can't even stand the sight or thought of food right now"
v - "Did you eat anything at all today?"
j - "No. I had some plain rice just with salt and then threw that up also"
v - "How are you not hungry right now Jeevs? Your head must be hurting also"
j - "It is starting too"
v - "You haven't changed at all. Your still so careless. You have been running around doing errands with Zaaine and didn't eat anything at all"
j - "I just forgot"
Within a few hours they reached Chicago. Zaaine was asleep and too tired to wake up. Jeevika carried Zaaine outside the plane while Viren carried out the handbags. They walked outside and to their next gate. They barely had any time between their connecting flight to New York. Viren was hungry and he knew Jeevika needed food too. So as Jeevika and Zaaine sat at their next gate he went to go find something. It was early in the morning, but he found a starbucks open. He bought a coffee for himself and two sandwiches. He went back near the gate and saw both Jeevika and Zaaine asleep, with Zaaine sleeping on top of Jeevika.
