chapter 28
Viren was so busy in his work that he hadn't even remembered about Zaaine still sleeping. At 6PM he went upstairs to his room to see him still fast asleep. He knew he had to wake him up otherwise he would have a hard time feeling asleep tonight. He switched on the lights making Zaaine squeeze his eyes and making Viren smile at his cuteness.
v - "Zaaine time to get up. Come on its super late. You slept for so many hours"
z - "Daa sleep more please"
v - "Aren't you hungry? Remember we were going to get ice cream after dinner? And what if mommy wants to FaceTime with you? Maybe I should just tell her that Zaaine is sleeping"
z - "Nooo! me talk with mommy"
v - "Okay, lets go downstairs and eat dinner first. Come on get up fast"
z - "Daa two mins. Please"
v - "Okay two minutes. I'm waiting for you" he said walking out his room. Viren walked in his room to go change. He was still dressed up in his work attire. When he came out he saw Zaaine sitting on his bed with his iPad trying to FaceTime with Jeevika.
v - "Zaaine what are you doing?"
z - "calling mommy"
v - "She will call you when she's free. Let's go downstairs"
z - "Daa me try"
v - "Gosh Zaaine" he said going and sitting next to him on the bed. Zaaine kept trying Jeevika's number which he had memorized, but she wasn't replying.
z - "mommy no reply"
v - "She told me to tell Zaaine that she will call you before bedtime, okay?"
z - "Okay Daa, but me miss mommy"
v - "You always miss her" he said picking him up upside down. Zaaine was laughing as Viren took him downstairs.
v - "Okay what do you want to eat?"
z - "cereal"
v - "You want cereal for dinner? Is Zaaine a little crazy" he said smiling
z - "No crazy. Me want cereal please"
v - "Okay go grab your bowl and I'll put you cereal"
Zaaine grabbed his bowl and handed it to Viren who put his cereal and milk in. He put his bowl on the table while Zaaine sat on the table.
z - "Daa mommy eat"
v - "I'll message her and ask her. You finish your cereal fast"
z - "Okay daa" he said eating his dinner.
Viren looked through the fridge trying to find something to eat, but he didn't feel like eating anything. He brought his laptop next to Zaaine and sat next to him.
z - "Daa"
v - "Yes Zaaine"
z - "When we go see snow?"
v - "In a few weeks"
z - "Why no snow here?"
v - "Zaaine eat your cereal first"
Zaaine ate his cereal but couldn't hold it in longer. He had too many things to talk to Viren about.
z - "Daa why mommy no come home"
v - "She's on-call. So incase someone gets hurt at night time and they need a doctor then Jeevika helps them"
z - "But people sleep night time. Why they get hurt?"
Viren was about to slap himself because of Zaaine's questions. He really could not stop laughing anymore. Thank god, or actually thanks to Jeevika he finally stopped when he heard the iPad ringing. Zaaine quickly got out of his chair with the help of Viren and ran to get his iPad from the couch. He accepted the FaceTime requested and got comfy on the sofa to talk to his mom.
j - "Hi Zaaine, how are you doing?"
z - "Good mommy. Mommy you eat dinner?"
j - "I'm eating right now. Did you eat?"
z - "Cereal"
j - "Cereal for dinner. Why is Zaaine so silly"
z - "Me no silly mommy. Mommy you come home please"
j - "I can't Zaaine. But I'll come pick you up from school tomorrow promise"
z - "Pinky promise"
j - "Pinky promise. Okay you didn't tell me what you did in school today. Did you make new friends?"
z - "Me read two books" he said showing two with his fingers cutely' "Me also do coloring"
j - "And did you talk to anyone"
Zaaine nodded yes
j - "Who did you talk to?"
z - "Ryan"
j - "Is he nice"
z - "Yes. Mommy when we go see snow?"
j - "Soon. Where's Viren?"
z - "Daa here" he said taking the iPad to the table where Viren was sitting.
v - "Hey Jeevs"
j - "Hey love. What are you upto"
v - "nothing just finishing some work. What are you doing?"
j - "Just eating dinner. Did you eat?"
v - "Don't feel like it. I'll eat once Zaaine is asleep. By the way I talked to Virat and Manvi and they said they can most likely come"
j - "Oh yeah I forgot to ask Zoya and Karan"
v - "Already forgetting things huh?"
j - "Jerk"
v - "Just joking. Ask them and let me know"
j - "Okay. I'm going for rounds. I'll call you later tonight"
v - "Okay, take care. Zaaine say bye"
z - "Bye mommy"
j - "Bye Zaaine. Love you"
z - "Love you more" he said giving her a flying kiss.
v - "Okay should we go out for a spin Zaaine?"
z - "Where Daa?"
v - "Well we need to go get some groceries and then ice cream maybe?"
z - "I love you daa" he said hugging Viren.
v - "I love you more" he said giving him a kiss on his cheek.
z - "Daa me put my shoes on"
v - "Okay go fast"
Zaaine quickly put his shoes on and was ready to go out with his dad. Zaaine quickly got in the car and Viren buckled him up. The two of them drove around town first picking up some groceries. Then Viren drove to Ben and Jerry's ice cream in Downtown LA. Zaaine was super excited to be going getting ice cream. As soon as he got in he knew exactly what he wanted.
z - "Daa brownie fudge ice cream in cone please"
v - "Gosh you're just like Jeevika"
z - "chocolate my favorite and mommy too"
v - "Yes I know that"
Viren ordered Zaaine's ice cream and got one for himself also. The two of them sat down on the table inside the ice cream store enjoying their time.
v - "Zaaine you're so silly"
z - "Why daa?"
v - "Come here"
Zaaine walked towards Viren who took a napkin and cleaned his nose which had ice cream on it. Zaaine just ended up laughing.
z - "Me like ice cream on nose daa"
v - "Oh my god Zaaine. You're just like Jeevika. You know she used to say that also"
z - "Really?"
v - "Yup. When we were in college we would come over here and she would eat the same ice cream as you and then I used to clean her nose"
z - "Mommy and me silly"
v - "Very very silly"
z - "Daa me want more ice cream"
v - "You just finished an entire ice cream cone and you want more?"
z - "Yes please"
v - "Maybe on the weekend okay. Or you're going to get sick. On Friday after school me and Jeevika will bring you here"
z - "Pinky promise"
