An Idea Daughter-In-Law

Our society have contrasting views on who is the ideal daughter-in-law. some feels that the one which is simple, have cultural sens, responsibility the one who not speaks up infront of her mother-in-law and father-in-law. and the other group is of modern yet responsible, intellegent and the girl who can stand for her own.
in our show chhanchhan we saw that Uma ben demanded for a daughter in law who is not modern, who not speaks against her mother-in-law in short who is like chhanchhan...
So who is the ideal daughter in law?

Uma Ben is too full of herself. The Bahu's in her own house are too brainless for their husband's also. I dont think even husband's would want a wife life that ever who just listens to her MIL in literally blindly & also does not mind being constantly let down either.

Chhan Chhan is the kind of Bahu who is appreciated by the Husband & MIL equally. Not a MIL like Uma Ben a more realistic one which a human can relate too.

In the scenario above, there is no ideal daughter-in-law because Umaben is not being an ideal mother-in-law.

She already has DILs she "controls" and they don't stand up to her...at least not yet.
Now, if Manav marries a girl of his choice she will not be able to "control" her and thus can affect her power and standing in "society".
For an ideal DIL there needs to be an ideal "in-laws" family. Ideal husband is not enough in the joint family system.

the definition of ideal is itself need some more explanations.. but as it is shown.. the way UB canceled out some of the qualities .. which may match with some of the real life MILs ( sadly )..

but any good DIL should take care of the family as her own as much as she can and ofcourse the more support and cooperation she gets from her MIL and husband the more she will and can turn into an Ideal 😲 DIL ..

I prefer DOTW then GOTW because I dont have time to play games at all though I am tempted to play them.
But I love interesting discussions.

An interesting topic. I googled an image for "ideal bahu" and this is what I got:

It's so stereotypical to think that "this" is how an ideal daughter-in-law should be. Every single person is different and there are too many pressures placed on a girl to behave a certain way just to get marriage proposals.

Looking at any matrimonial website, the ideal bahu will be listed as "5'4-5'5, fair, pretty, fairly educated and makes a decent amount of money, submissive, soft-spoken, etc."

I think in today's times, the woman is expected to work sometimes. But definitely not earn as much as the groom. They're expected to be submissive and gentle so they can take care of their family and kids. Cook good food for their husbands and clean the house properly.

But women can't be shoved into a stereotypical role. I don't know how to cook well at all! Just a little bit of curries here and there and basic survival cooking but that's it. I don't even like the kitchen! But I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Men need to take more responsibilities around the house as well if women are joining the workforce. Traditional roles are changing and society needs to embrace that.

My biggest issue of how bahus are expected to be is the submissiveness. Why is it that women in the show are always shown to be so overly traditional and afraid to speak up? They're almost never independent and live in huge havelis taking care of the household.

To me, a girl who's independent, ambitious but also cares for her in-laws like her own parents is an ideal daughter-in-law. She should be able to make sacrifices but shouldn't be the only one making them.
