Chapter 18
A few days passed since Khushi's return from the hospital. She could not even go to baby sit nor she could go for her interning or lectures. She was just at home either watching t.v or reading books. Arnav also had taken a leave from his office and was taking care of Khushi just like a doting husband as per Dr.Shreya's advice. She also advised him they would execute their plan only and only when Khushi's condition was stable and she was just alright to go down memory lane and recall everything that happened.
Now, it was over a week since Khushi had come back home. Arnav, too, started going to his office but only for half days or less. He would come back either to remind her about her medicines or some important prescriptions.
But the actual reason why he wanted to come was that he wanted to stay with Khushi, all the time possible. He was more scared than her for her health. When Khushi used to be asleep at nights, he would just tip-toe in her room, as he knew she never wanted anyone in her room without her permission. But even he could not help it as his love for Khushi deepened every day, every hour, every minute and every second.
He used to get up before Khushi and go straight in her room. He wanted his mornings only and only to be greeted by her angelic face. And he didn't mind going to her room in the wee hours of the morning just for this weird chimera. He thought, his days would be very easy and prosperous as he saw Khushi's face first thing in the morning. He said 'I love you' to her in the morning when he went to her room, in the night to check on her and practically all day.
But today was the day, Arnav Singh Raizada was never even once waiting for. He was living his life the way he wanted. Living in the same house with the person he truly loved with no big deals or lust. But just mere taking care of her and rejoicing himself as and when he saw her, reminding himself that he is just so grateful to God who blessed him with a reward in the form of Khushi. He loved Khushi in every sphere possible. The way she looked, the way she smiled, laughed, pouted, frowned, kissed with equal vigor as him, as well as her morals, etiquettes, never-say-never attitude and her godly nature. Everything.
But today he HAD to ask Khushi about her past which he was neglecting since days. He HAD to sort out her life as well as his life. He knew he couldn't tell her that he loved her as he knew she is still living in the past. But he would do anything, just anything to get back Khushi in the present and take her with him in the future. He could, would and had to everything Khushi needed to.
Dr. Shreya gave him an idea how to ask her indirectly about her past. But she cautioned Arnav that even at the mere mentioning of Khushi's past's name would traumatize her and she, in all probabilities, would faint again. He had to be very careful with the framing of his words as Khushi should not sense anything odd, something against what her brain wants to listen. He carefully understood what Shreya wanted to make Arnav do and wasted no time in executing it, while keeping a stone on his heart, having full instincts that by doing this, his heart will be completely damaged, hurt and wounded.
Khushi was sitting on the sofa with her legs spread apart. She was wearing a micro mini shorts, which she normally wore and even Arnav was quite used to it now, and a loose Minnie Mouse tee shirt, with the same pink socks which she wore frequently. Arnav was in the kitchen cooking something for them. He purposely did not give her, her medicines. Khushi, noticing this, shouted so as to make Arnav hear as he was in the kitchen,"ARNAV! Where are my medicines?"
Arnav heard this and ran in his room's bathroom and locked himself in as even if khushi would go to find him, she would not find him in any way.
Khushi shouted again,"Arnav! Are you there?"
Still no reply.
She shouted 3-4 times but Arnav gave no reply. Her heart started racing. Where is he? she thought. She got up and went in the kitchen and found no one. Her eyes got teary and she started searching for Arnav frantically all over their place. But she could not find him anywhere.
For the last time, she shouted,"STOP it ARYAN!! Come out NOW!" and sat down on her legs.
Arnav heard Khushi and then the mentioning of the name 'Aryan'. He squeezed his eyes and got out of the washroom.
Khushi saw him and jumped into his arms and embraced him tightly. Arnav, too embraced her back.
Khushi whispered in his ears, "Never leave me like this, OK? I got so scared Aryan. Please!"
Arnav's eyes popped out. He did not understand what to do. He just moved his hand over her hair and asked her to sleep in his arms. When she was about to say something he asked her to be quiet and just sleep. She obeyed his order and took no time to sleep in his arms. After standing there and catching her for around 5-10 minutes, he picked her up and took her to her room and made her sleep. He now knew who was the guy in her life but did not understand how she suddenly mentioned his name.

While Khushi was sleeping, Arnav quickly went to meet Dr. Shreya. He explained her everything what happened. She completely understood the situation.
"I told you she has a past!" Shreya exclaimed.
"How can you say that? She just mentioned Aryan. That's it."
"Arnav, I know it's hard for you. I'll explain what happened. Khushi still lives in the past. There was a guy name Aryan in her life. When you left her, or when you disappeared today, she went back to the past and must have recalled a similar instance where Aryan would have left her and she coined this incidence with that one. And thus, she thought that it's not you but Aryan."
"What should I do now?'' Arnav asked, still taking in the information.
"Just get the detailed info of Aryan and then confront her."

Arnav got back home. He suddenly remembered that Khushi had mentioned something about his family. 'I never hide anything from my Payal jiji. Even if I try to, I always fail!' he remembered. He decided that he would call his jiji and then ask her everything regarding Khushi and Aryan. While Khushi was still asleep, he quietly took Payal's number from her cell phone.

"Hello?" Payal said, from the other end.
"Hi, is this Payal Gupta?"
"Yes. Who's this?"
"I'm Arnav. Arnav Singh Raizada."
Payal started thinking hard about him and quickly remembered this name.
"Khushi's room mate? Is everything alright? Is she OK?"
"yeah. Everything is OK. But I had to ask you something."
"What?"
Arnav told her everything. From Khushi's fainting incidence to today's mentioning of Aryan. Everything.
" I don't know whether I should tell you about him or not, Arnav." Payal said after discovering what happened in her beloved sister's life.
"Payal, if you want your sister to move on in her life then please tell me."
Payal thought for sometime and said," yes, I definitely want to. Aryan and Khushi were friends since childhood. Our father and his father where friends before that. Eventually, we took houses next to each other. Aryan Khushi then fell in love with each other. Typical childhood sweet hearts they were. They literally grew up together. So, after years we finalized Khushi and Aryan's engagement But one. Khushi got to know that Aryan was cheating on her with someone else. So she broke their engagement. Aryan, tried a gazillion times to get back to her. But Khushi being Khushi, never reverted once. And I can still say that Aryan loves Khushi."
"And I can say that Khushi loves Aryan." Arnav said, clearing the tear which dropped from his eye. He continued, "Dont worry Payal. I will get back Khushi and Aryan. Forever."
"Thank you, Arnav. I will be really grateful to you. I'll send Aryan right to Canada."
"Not now. Send him when I ask you to."
"OK"
Arnav did not understand what he should do. Should I make her mine or let her go where she belongs? Aryan cheated but even Khushi was on the verge of cheating him with me when we kissed. Mistakes happen. But here, Khushi loves him and so does he. So where do I come in between? I'm just a random guy who loves a girl. It's not necessary that even she should love, is it? I don't belong with her. It's not my destiny. But one thing which is sure as hell is that i love her. And i will always do. I promised Khushi, that i would do anything to make you happy, get you out of depression. And I will keep that promise. Don't worry, Khushi. I will take you back to Aryan. For once and for all.
Saying this, Arnav started crying like a baby who cries when he first enters the world. The tears which were like poison from inside, were flowing down his cheeks. He, now, could not control. But he had to take Khushi back to her love and he would surely do it.
