Chapter 16: Desitned to be together
(last chapter)
Khushi tells him that before she used to think that marriage is an institution where she will need to folow some rules but now she does not care what shastras say and the real meaning of marriage is to be with each other no matter what is the circumstances. She also confessess that she has not been a perfect wife and a perfect human being but she will try her best in future. Arnav smiles at her, he too promises her that he will never hurt her and will always be there to take care of her. Arnav apologises if he has been rude to her and assures her that he will make it up to her. That night Arnav and Khushi sleeps in each others arm. While Khushi is trying to sleep she thinks what if she was not married to Arnav; what her life would have been. She smuggles closer to Arnav and sleeps away all her negative feelings.
2005
Khushi was happily running through the house, Payal catch hold of her arm and tells her to stop but Khushi spins her and tells her that she is too happy, when Payal asks her the reason of her happiness she says her application that she submitted in Delhi university has been accepted for graduate program, Garima listens to them and in shock lets the thali of sweets she was carrying fall, Khushi looks at her amused. She tells her why even after their refusal that Khushi will not pursue her study further she sent her application, Khushi argues and after much heated discussion and series of emotional blackmail they let Khushi attend college. Khushi was a brilliant student. One day when she was in library she got a flyer about one of the oxford graduate to give a seminar, she becomes excited after that she goes to a cafe shop and starts drinking coffee, she finds she has been placed a wrong order she calls the waiter but a voice from back says
"thats my order, I am sorry, may be the waiter got confused...hmm I am ASR"
"oh..its ok I am sorry I drank your coffee..."
"Its ok because I too drank your coffee"
They talk for brief moment ASR sees the flyer in Khushi's hand and he says her that he will too attend that seminar. Khushi bids him good bye and leave from cafe. While in hostel when she is reading Garima calls her and says that Shashi is ill and wants Khushi by his side so Garima tells Khushi to come back home by the first train tomorrow. Khushi leaves for home immediately. She could not attend the seminar.
london, 2weeks before
Arnav was meditating listening to the song when Ratna barged in and inquires him of his trip to India. He tells her that he recovered from a grave darkness and has completed his studies with merit as per his Dad wish and now he want to visit the place where his Dad spent his chilhood, studied and became what he was. Ratna does not allow him as it will ignite memories and he will get more hurt. But he does not agree with her and Ratna leaves from there. Dadi too comes there and asks Arnav to visit Khushi while he is in Delhi as Khushi too studies there, Arnav asks for a photograph so it will be easy to recognize but Dadi does not have any, Arnav says he will ask some one there. Arnav will be speaking in a seminar; he reaches India where he is recieved by the university persons, after checking in his hotel he goes to the college, he looks here and there, he goes to the school library and searches for old year books he finds his Dad years book and becomes a little teary when he sees his fathers photo with his other classmates. He then goes to a cafe shop, but he is placed a wrong order just then he hears someone complaining she is placed a wrong order, Arnav realizes its his order and talks to her he introduces himself as ASR as every one used to call him but he could not get her name. He saw aflyer of the seminar where he will be speaking and he says her that he will be there after that she leaves. Arnav speaks in the seminar about how studying was difficult but with clear conscience every thing can be achieved he tells all the graduates to focus on the goal and work hard to achieve it. But he was too busy to notice the girl from the cafe did not attend the seminar. After that he goes to search for Khushi but in girls hostel he is informed that Khushi had to go home due to family emergency.
2009, July
It was a hot july summer in Lucknow Khusi was shouting in the speaker that a big business man is going to demolish the purana bazaar and is going to make a 5 star hotel. She has collected many peoples and she plans to protest against this demolition. She shouting at top of her lungs when Buaji comes her and pulls her down from the wall where she is standing and shouting. Buaji scolds her everyone in house is busy with Payal's wedding and she is busy with this nautanki, Khushi tries to reason that Old bazaar carries some historical significance so she will do everything in her power to stop this demolition, Buaji snatches the microphone from her hand and drags her to home.
"hay re sankadevi, hamri naak katawakar rahogi, ladki ho tum yesa netagiri kahe karifiri ho tum"buaji fumes at Khushi and warns Shashi to control Khushi. Payaal catches Khushi by her ear
"ah, jiji dukhta hai" Khushi winces and Payaal, "acha hua tumhey dard ho ra hain kyun aisa karti ho, aba hum bhi chalejayengey toh tumhari pagalpaan sehaney key liye kohi nahi rahega yaha, howw Khushi kyun deti ho tum Buaji ko mauka tumhe datney ko" (ah, jiji it hurts) (its nice if you sre in pain, when I will go there will be noone to bear your foolishness, why do you do all this why do you give chances to buaji to scold you)
"meri pyari si bholi si jiji tum nahi samjhti ho, puraney bazaar ko tudwaney sey bachana hi hoga, koi bhi bahar ka aakar yitni puratatwik mahotta ki chij nahin tod sakta" (my loving sister, why don't you understand, the old market hold historical significance and can't be demolished)
"bas aba netagiri chodo padhai pey dhyan do tum, hamari shaadi key baad tum wapas chalijaaogi, tab kya hoga" (leave all this, and pay attention to your study, when will you retun the what will happen)
"hum yaha ehtey hi is problem ko jad sey mita dengey" (before I return I will solve this problem)
The officials inform Arnav that a girl with some group is protesting against the demolition, Arnav tells them to clear all the unwanted problem and use forces if they have to; Arnav too is in India with his Dadi to attend Payaals marriage, Dadi has gone to Gupta house while Arnav is in his Lucknow office wher he is briefed about this problem, he is doinga meeting with the state chief minister about this problem. Dadi calls him and asks him to come to Gupta house but Arnav tells her that he is very busy and will meet them later.
Dadi apologises Shashi that Arnav is too busy and can't make it, Shashi wanted to meet Arnav before finalising any thing. Here at the site of construction Khushi is in full swing of protesting police too arrives there takes all the protesters away, Shashi goes to bails out Khushi, Khusi pouts her face and looks apologetically to Shashi but Shashi scolds her, at home Garima is all in tears and scolds Khushi, Khushi tells she is sorry but what she did was not bad, Garima tells they have fixed her marriage already so she need to stop her childishness. He drags Khushi to her room and tells her to get ready as the ladkewale will arrive any time soon, Khuhsi tries to protest but Garima does not listen to her, Payaal come there and comfort the crying Khushi.
Dadi after pleading for several times and after some emotional blackmail Arnav agress to go to Gupta house, he is already being briefed about the arrest made at construction site. After reaching Gupta house, when he is about to enter the house a call comes and when he recieves it he gets the knews about the fire in purana bazar, his construction site. He reaches there and every one present there laces out on him, being an NRI he did not think about his own country and tried to demolish the area of historical importance, from them he also get to know that some little girl was in danger and same brave girl who was leading the protest saved her. He too reaches the hospital but misses Khushi by seconds. He feels extremely guilty and he decides to pull his investment. Khushi becomes too happy after her win. But Dadi is not so happy as she was not successful in her plans to make Khushi and Arnav meet.
2012
Khushi finished her graduation after that she joined the MBA program in same university much to Garima's dismay, as she thought its now age for Khushi to get married and settle down. Shashi called Arnav's Dadi now and then to inquire about Arnav as Arnav and Khushi were already said to be marrying, Dadi assured him that Khushi will be Arnav's wife only. Khushi was enjoying her life but Buaji and Garima taunted her every day to behave like a lady and not to do uchal kud like child. Khushi was against an arrange marriage as she wanted to fall in love before it, she will follow the rules of marriage but will only agree if that is someone she feels like spending her whole life with. In London, Dadi knew about Arnav and Sheeta;, she was totally against it so she made a situation in the company Arnav had to change the model from Sheetal to someone else which made Sheetal angry, they fought night and day and later they got broke up much to Dadi's pleasure. During that time Dadi found out she is very ill and she thought if she is gone Ratna would never let Arnav to marry Khushi so she took advantage of her illness and pursued Arnav, Arnav was not ready for this, but on the night when Dadi had the fatl Heartattack which she survived, and she proposed Arnav to marry Khushi Arnav went to Dadi and said no but Dadi tells him a story about Shashi and his Dad being the best of friends, she tells him during that time when Khushi was born his Dad got the chance to come to London and hhis business flourishes so his Dad always took Khushi as a lucky charm so he promised Shashi to get Khuhsi married in his home with his son when Arnav was just 5 yrs old. After listening to this he agrees only to honour his father wish.
Day before the marriage day Garima comes to Khushi's room, Khushi is sleeping, she slowly caressess Khushi tresses and kissess on her forehead during that a tear falls on Khuhsi's cheeks which made her wake up, she sees Garima crying and she too becomes sad she asks her the reason why she is crying, Garima apologises to Khushi if she has ever been rude to her, Khushi shooks her head in negation and instead apologises to Garima as she has always been the source of problem, Gariam tells her not to say that and Khushi hugs her; mother and daughter shares an emotional moment.
Present day
Arnav is making Khushi climb a hill, Khushi is very tired but Arnav tells her that it will only take few minutes now, they reach the top of the hill from there she overlook at the city the lights are like twinkle of the starts the peach trees are adorned with flowers ready to become fruits. Arnav holds Khushi buy her waist and tells her that to sgree to marry her has been the best decision he has taken by far. khushi hugs him side ways and tells him its her best decision too. They both watches the sun set from the hill top, their fingers are intertwined and they are relishing their happily ever after.
Friends this the last chapter thanks for appreciating this FF, I am quite emotional at this time, I was running out of ideas and I don't want to ruin this story by dragging it. Thank you all so much.
