Chapter# 17

Arnav had had the best time of his life. He had put up the radio for the first time after so many years. It felt like decades. There were so many emotions in his heart that he couldn't describe. He was happy, finally completely happy and at peace. Happiness had finally knocked at his door.

He reached home, it was late now. He raised his hand to ring the bell when Anjali came and opened the door. Arnav had a bright smile on his face which nobody had seen in years.

"Di?" Arnav was shocked.

"Chote where were you? And you're smiling? Oh my god you're smiling? Mujay chutki kato?" Anjali said dramatically.

"I had something important to do. And yes I'm smiling. It isn't forbidden, okay? I need to sleep. Oh by the way how did you know I was at the door?" Arnav asked curiously.

"Well, I heard your car enter the gates. Yes, smiling is forbidden in your rule book, isn't it Chote?" Anjali said as a mischievous smile touched her lips.

"Please di. I'll see you tomorrow. Goodnight." Arnav said leaving a curious Anjali behind.

Anjali couldn't let this be. Her brother, her Chote was smiling. It was a big deal for her and how could she not find out why he was in such a good mood and not being the typical ASR.

"Chote wait." Anjali called Arnav from behind.

"What now Di?" Arnav said lazily turning around.

"Tomorrow is Payal's haldi."- Anjali said.

"Really?" Arnav said with his eyes widened.

"You seem excited? Didn't Payal tell you?" Anjali said hiding her smile.

"No, I was with Khushi so I didn't see her and I..." Arnav stopped as he realized that he had spilled something wrong. Shit, he said to himself.

"Oh, so you were Khushi?" Anjali said raising her eyebrow.

"No I mean actually...Akash wanted to give something to Payal so he... wanted me to go and give it to her ...So ...I ...um.. Gave it to Khushi." Arnav said looking at the ground.

"Achaa?" Anjali said biting her lip.

"Haan Di. Acha, I have to go now." Arnav turned on his heels and ran for his room.

"I knew it." -Anjali said to herself in excitement and left to her room.

Arnav went to his room and changed into his night-suit. He lied down on his bed. He couldn't stop thinking about Khushi. Her innocent face, her hazel eyes. Perfect, he whispered. Khushi was all he wanted and now he wouldn't loose her just like he did last time. The kiss was so magical; he smiled as he thought about every moment he had spent with her tonight. The dairy he had read was almost about him. He didn't know that she loved him this much. He got flash-back of the time they spent in school. Yes, half of the time he ignored her but he kept looking at her when she wasn't looking. He cared for her without letting her know. He loved her, secretly. But now, nobody could stop from loving her openly. Thinking of all this he slept peacefully, smiling.

Khushi on the other hand was still shocked. She went to the kitchen and started making jalebi's.

"I hope it isn't a dream. Please don't be a dream. If it is a dream I'll suicide." Khushi said talking to herself. He pinched herself. "Ouch" she winced.

"I can't believe it. Arnav Singh Raizada loves me. This was the day I had been waiting for since so long." Khushi said excitedly, clapping her hands. "Oh my god, I didn't tell Payal. But she must be sleeping. I'll tell her tomorrow." Khushi said out loud and pressed her back against the kitchen counter thinking of everything all over again.

"Tell me what?" Khushi heard Payal from the kitchen door.

"Oh my god, you scared me." Khushi said placing her hand on her heart.

"What were you about to tell me? I'm curious now." Payal said coming right next to Khushi.

"Payal you won't believe. Arnav confessed." Khushi said excitedly, shaking her shoulders.

"What? I knew he'd do it." Payal said, calmly.

"What? How? When?" Khushi said taken aback.

"Well, he told me that he was going to confess. I don't know anything else, neither did he tell. I was about to ask but he cut the phone." Payal said shrugging her shoulders.

"Oh my god, really?" Khushi said with wide eyes as she left Payal's shoulders.

Khushi, after making a bundle of Jalebi's took them and went to her room. She narrated the whole story to Payal. Payal was happy yet so shocked. Arnav was changing or should I say had changed already.

"Kissed?" Payal screamed, putting her hands on her mouth,

"Sshh... yes, he did and twice." Khushi said as the blush was back on her face.

"TWICE?" Payal threw the half eaten Jalebi in the air.

"Why'd you do that? You wasted my Jalebi. And yess. I know. Oh my god, you have no idea how much I love him." Khushi said placing her hands on her eyes.

"Khushi tomorrow is my Haldi. Wear a sari!" Payal said animatedly.

"Sari? Again?" Khushi said pouting her lips.

"Yess... You look amazing. Plus on Haldi's girls wear sari. So you have to. And Arnav likes girls in saris." Payal said with a wink.

"He does?" Khushi said as the crimson color was visible again.

"Yes, of course he does. And especially on you." Payal said with a wink. Again.

This day a lot had to be done. Payal wanted everything to be perfect. Perfect as in perfect! Everything was decorated in yellow, orange, and red, white. Fairy lights had been all around the house. It really seemed magical as Payal had preferred. Especially the pool side, as Arnav had order. Yes, Arnav wanted to have the poolside decorated magically because he had a plan.

*Flash back*

"Yeah I know Khushi told me." Payal said to Arnav on the phone call.

"She did?" Arnav said, surprised.

"Of-course she did. She's my best-friend; I'm always the first one." Payal said with a smirk.

"Wait is that a taunt?" Arnav said.

"I won't mind if you take it that way." Payal said.

"Yeah, that umm... listen I'm in no mood to fight. So just stop. What should I do next with Khushi?" Arnav asked.

"What the hell? Did I fall in love with her or did you? You're supposed to think not me! Bye lover boy." Payal said but before she could shut the phone...

"No no... wait I want to propose her." Arnav said as he sat up on the recliner.

"You what? Haha... the great ASR wants to be all lovey-dovey is it?" Payal said smirking again.

"Look Payal, I don't know why you dislike me very much. But think about your best friend not me. Plus I've changed. I've changed due to her and you are very well aware of that." Arnav said. He knew she'd do anything for her.

"You have a point. And yes I'm aware very well." Payal said thinking of what should be done.

"Please help me?" Arnav said, almost pleading.

"Umm...Look takes her to the pool side without letting her know that it's you and propose her!" -Payal smiled at her idea.

"That's kind of a good idea." Arnav said.

"Kind of? Dude it's a brilliant idea. And don't mess it up." Payal said in a serious tone.

"The great ASR never messes up." Arnav said confidently.

"Huh? And you said you've changed, you self-obsessed person." Payal said.

"I won't mind if you take it that way. Get the pool side decorated. She likes lights, fairy lights. So do it." Arnav ordered and before Payal could say anything he shut the phone.

*Flash back ends*

Payal could do anything for Khushi. Anything. And she had to make this day special for Khushi. Happiness was knocking on Khushi's door too, finally.

Payal was wearing a light yellow and red lengha and a long shirt which didn't have much work on it. Her head was covered with the duppatta and she had been wearing flower jewelry. She had a slight shimmery makeup which made her look pretty as well as delicate.

And so Khushi was wearing a yellow and orange sari with a slight of white print in it. She was also wearing flower jewelry but it was just the earrings, the tika and the bangles. (Or just imagine her the way she was dressed on the Haldi episode) She was as usual not wearing much makeup apart from a little bit of blush and some gloss. But yet made her look like an angel.

"Khushi are you... WOW." Payal said entering Khushi's room.

"What? Do I like fine?" Khushi said biting her lip.

"Fine? Man you look gorgeous." Payal said.

"Really?" Khushi asked yet again.

"Yes. I mean it's like the sari thingy is made for you." Payal said turning to the mirror.

"That's just sweet of you. Plus I think Akash will fall in love with you all over again." Khushi said teasingly.

"Okay now enough of the cheekiness lets go downstairs the guests have almost arrived." Payal said pulling Khushi's elbow out the room.
