Was this the same man I looked up to? It only took a second for him to question my sincerity based on my sexual choices. Was that all my worth: my sexuality before my integrity? Or worse, was my sexuality my only integrity? Where was my political inclination in all of this? Wasn't that the focus to begin with?

It hurt me much more to tell a father figure to back off but, I had to. Something in me said it was time to move on. One could only be daddy's shadow wing for so long. It was time to find my own place. Before I opened an old can of worms, he retreated just the right amount.

"I have declared my retirement from politics. The media announcement is scheduled for tomorrow. I have no problems with you being sexually active. It is not my place to say. But, if you truly want a career in politics, your options are limited. Either marry a man with liberal views and become his subordinate or, adopt chastity for your living days. There is no in between, this is India".

I have no intentions of clearing the filthy drain of the political arena. I am no pipecleaner. What he said was the truth but, I was not willing to accept it just yet. I was going to give this a try. I already tried chatting up all the men on "our side", as Roger put it and I was not about to marry their cheating asses.

So, the dim hope was another Wall Street suitor lobbying for corporate benefit or Rishabh. If you know me, you would know I cannot be in the same room as a three piece suit for more than ten minutes. They usually run out crying or cursing and searching for more words to curse my loud mouth.

Rishabh was the only realistic match. Roger surprisingly did not lash out on Rishabh. He simply said what was necessary.

"She is a woman every woman wants to be. She is the product of her kind parental genes and my rigorous examination of her capabilities. Do not test her because she will pass and I will make sure you regret thinking the thought".

Okay, may be it was a little harsh. But, my ego was inflated just enough not to interrupt.

"I will see you back in Delhi. Make sure you are alone".

Roger said his goodbyes with what looked like a rough salute and left.

A little harsh? You have got to be kidding me. The man sent chills down my spine. It was only one night. I mean the best night of my life but, how did he find out? He even took my mix tape. That sucker! I am starting to get why Bittuji does not like him. I wonder why we even call him to our parties. Jeez, such a pain. Not like he is Madhu's father. Gaah, get his stupid face out my head. Please excuse the language, I am hungover and in dire need of lime juice.
