Will Sai Deodhar outdo Kanchi?
DEEPALI DHINGRA
It's the first time Sai Deodhar has a daily soap on air and by
the end of the day, Sai feels dead tired. "And the feeling is
priceless!" she laughs. And that's not just because she's working so
hard but also, because she's acting with hubby Shakti Anand after a
long time in Sony's Ek Ladki Anjaani Si. "We hardly got time to work
together after Saara Aakash, so it's been great fun going for shoots
together in the morning," she adds.
Sai's role as Ananya in the show was in a bit of a controversy as
she had replaced Kanchi Kaul, who was apparently sacked by the
channel. But Sai doesn't want to get into any of that. "I don't
think it was a replacement," she says and adds that the script had
undergone a change which required a new face. "When the channel
asked me if I wanted to do this role opposite Shakti, I said yes.
They told me that the storyline's taking a turn, so I said if that's
the case, then why not? It's a beautiful role so there was no reason
to say no anyway," she states. Sai adds that she's not trying to fit
into somebody else's shoes. "The change was woven in the script in
such a manner that there is no sudden jerk for the audience.
Ananya's character also underwent a metamorphosis—she had a baby and
became more mature. I'm trying to take the character ahead from
where Kanchi had left off and I'm sure the audience will accept it,"
she says. As far as working with Shakti is concerned, she's only too
glad to be working with him again. "Touchwood, we have no ego
problems and understand each other well. We just try and make the
scene better. Usually after marriage, actors have problems working
with each other but we're too professional to let anything like that
happen," she adds.
